One of the top players in the 2027 class, despite reclassing up a year, DE Marcus Fakatou made the cross-country trip to South Florida for Miami’s “Spring Splash” recruiting weekend. A 6-foot-6, 275-pound edge prospect, Fakatou has some of the most impressive tools around — dominating opposing offensive lineman at will across both the high school and camp circuit. The five-star recapped his visit with me for CanesInSight, and had plenty of interesting things to say about the Canes.

“There were definitely positive aspects of Fakatou’s visit to Miami but the Hurricanes’ coaching staff told him they want the four-star at defensive tackle which is something of a deal breaker since Fakatou wants to be recruited as a bigger defensive end.”

He will likely be 300+ by the time he plays his first snap but sounds like he doesn’t want to get his hands dirty.

I mean if he wants to be lied to then this isn’t the place for him.

This is always the concern with signing big DEs you project to play inside.Some like Nagle quickly start adding weight and transition immediately but some don't want to get fat and exercise and diet and are tweeners like Blount and Davis on the current team.
