The Hurricanes went into the 2027 and 2028 class prioritizing three elite five-star wideouts and walked away with a hat trick.

Nick Lennear, A’mir Sears and now Brysen Wright. Statement made.

Wright announced his commitment to the University of Miami this afternoon, simultaneously announcing his intention to reclassify into the 2027 class as Sears did in July.

A 6-foot-4, 210-pounder originally from St. Augustine before moving to Jacksonville, Fla., the Mandarin product is a contested catch specialist with a lengthy highlight reel of his circus grabs.

He’s an elite hands receiver who snatches passes out of the air and turns 50-50 throws into 80-20 balls. Whether it’s one-handed grabs on the sideline or high-point snags in the endzone, Wright does it all.

His body control is some of the best in recent classes, able to adjust to the flight of the ball in air and maintain awareness through the play for toe tap opportunities.

Keep in mind, Wright was already a reclass into the 28 class – originally part of the 2029 class – and is only 16 years old at the time of writing.

He will continue to develop on top of his college-ready physicality and projects to be a matchup nightmare at the next level. Wright can line up on the outside or in the slot, hunting weak spots in opposing defenses to gash downfield.

So far this season, he’s tallied 984 yards with 11 touchdowns at wide receiver, catching passes from UM 2028 QB commit Knox Annis. Wright has also featured as a hard-hitting safety and punt returner for his Mandarin side.

Often the public comparison for Wright is Jeremiah Smith — a big, physical X-receiver who punishes smaller DB’s. But another comparison comes in the form of DeAndre Hopkins, whose hands can make up for moments without true separation.

It came down to Texas, Florida and Miami for Wright, with the “U” capitalizing on its momentum coming off a national championship appearance and current No. 1 ranking.

The Hurricanes have added another gem onto a historic 2027 recruiting class for head coach Mario Cristobal, as Wright becomes the sixth five-star of the cycle.

Miami’s total haul for the class is now pushed to 21.

With less than a month until signing day, the staff continues to work behind the scenes building the next generation of Canes football. As it stands, Miami could roll out a 2027 receiving room of just its Florida-grown stars in Malachi Toney, Somourian Wingo, Lennear, Sears and Wright.

That’s a culture and certainly a program identity. Proof of Cristobal’s concept.

Jeremiah punching air right now

Bro is going to barely be 17 when the season kicks off next year.

Welcome to The U, Mr. Wright!

Mario busy stacking our recruiting classes.

This class just went from amazing to potentially the best ever!

Miami is now in position to never miss on a Jeremiah smith ever again.

We Miami. Its gonna be crazier than Sabans era

facts, our **** fully operational is like the MJs bulls mixed with the Warriors and mixed with that **** the teenage mutant ninja turtles had. And all the infinity stones

Every five star Mario had landed before this class was and OL or DL. this class is going to take this team to another level. This is amazing

Built it inside out. Shows the progress. Couldn’t get the big time QBs, wrs, and DBs early on now we have multiple 5 stars at each one if them positions

Young people alive are finally going to know what its like to see a fully functional Miami team, then they will remember the stories we told them and finally believe it with their own eyes.

Insane what Mario has done. Top kids in the state and country are coming to Miami. ESPN is posting about it. Just insane to think about from where this program was just 5 years ago.

Can he reclassify to Saturday night?

Got to bring in a portal qb now.

It’s some they are going to have to figure out. And do you believe one of your own guys can be the guy next year. Also got to weigh the possibility of losing your depth in that room if you hit the portal again
