Where did you hear this? Wouldn't be the worst idea but may mess up things for underclassmen thinking of leaving for the NFL.

Football pays for almost every other sport. If there is no football athletic departments will crumble. They will make due and push the draft back if they need to

ive seen it hypothesized. i cant see it happening with the amount of kids that wouldnt play and the fact that fall 2021 would start on time

If the 2020 regular season is Jan, Feb, March in empty stadiums it can be over by mid-April with limited open dates. Practice all of December (including finals week). No bowl games aside from playoffs. No spring practice. Draft takes place in May. 2021 season begins in September.

I think the best course of action at this point would be to start the season (actual games) late and then just play a shortened season. Maybe play just conference games to minimize travel & expenses, then have your bowl season & playoffs. That way it only has an impact on the upcoming season, instead of it carrying over into the following season(s) as well if you start moving the entire season back.
