We are now under 100 days away from College Football starting back up in the Sunshine State; to celebrate On3 released their top-100 college football players for the upcoming 2026-27 season, which shows Miami tons of love.

Counting down from 100, the first Hurricane to appear on the list was Mark Fletcher Jr. at 93. Ahead of Fletcher are No. 54 Damon Wilson, No. 44 Darian Mensah, and No. 27 Ahmad Moten, with No. 5 Malachi Toney leading all Hurricanes at No. 5.

Malachi Toney was the No. 2 wide receiver in the country just behind No. 1 Jeremiah Smith. Ahmad Moten sits at No. 5 among defensive linemen. Hurricanes starting quarterback Darian Mensah checks in at No. 7 among his position group, slotting in just behind USC's Jayden Maiava.

The On3 Offensive Freshman of the Year is again poised to be one of the top playmakers in college football. In his breakout rookie season, Malachi Toney was targeted or handed the ball on almost 15 percent of the Hurricanes’ plays. As the motor for his offense, he only was responsible for a single drop against his total of 99 catches, which are 11 more than any returning receiver. Moreover, his sparky style forced the Power Four’s most missed tackles after the catch (33). But he wasn’t just some compiler, contrary to the abundant outlet screens. Toney displayed a desirable balance of both production and efficiency. He’s among seven returners with a 1,000-yard campaign and 2.4 yards per route run. Miami spent big for a QB in the transfer portal again. So Toney’s sophomore encore ought to have plenty more fireworks.

I'm pretty optimistic Mensah will end up better than the 44th best player in the country.

Exactly!!!!! A offense that can drop 40 on anyone and a defense that doesn’t give up more than 21 points per game, with an insane pass rush.

A rotation of four 5star DEs is going to be difficult for any offensive line in the nation to handle. Things could get real ugly real quick.

We have to have one of the deepest benches in P4. The second and third teams need to get in their snaps, too. I want our starters rotating often and sitting out the last 15 to 20 minutes of every game so everyone gets legit game time.

To do that we need to be putting points up early and often. Minimum 20, averaging 25+ coming out of halftime. Never lay off the gas just dig deeper into the line card.

Mario knows this can’t be bro ball. This team is built to light the scoreboard up look no further than the offensive portal class.

Teams will be forced to play catch up and that will play right into the strength of this defense.

All of those additional pass attempts with this pass rush and Fitz roaming the secondary. He could have 10+ picks this season.

Better?

QB - 26. I love Dorsey to death but Mensah has a better arm, is a better athlete, and can make throws from angles and on the move Dorsey just couldn't. Dorsey was maybe the best defense reader we ever had but Mensah is right there. You'd be shocked how many times in '01 the offense went stagnant and the defense had to make a big play to wake them up. I don't think we'll have that problem this year.

RB - 01. There's no topping Portis, WMac, and Gore. Although McGahee was hurt most of that season and they didn't trust Gore til halfway through. I love our stable for 26 but you're not topping 3 NFL HOF talents. Even though they all won't make it in.

WR - 26. Even though Dre is the best overall on both teams, besides him everyone else was just serviceable on that 01 team. I'm not sure any of them played a snap in the league. 26 is loaded. Dorsey with this year's WR crew would have been insane.

TE - 01. Shockey was one of the all time greats. Besides him there was just Robert and David Williams who were basically just blockers but it didn't matter. This year it's pretty much Lofton or bust and even he blows up he won't be anywhere close to shockey obviously..

OL - 01. Mt. McKinnie was the best LT of all time and everyone else was very good. Cantwell may become that but not as a freshman. The rest of the 26 line will be sold but Rodriguez is no Rhomberg and McCoy is no Juaquin.

DL - 01 but closer than you think. McDougle and Andrew Williams were great pass rushers and great edge setters. William Joseph was dominant and Matt Walters was very good, and you had Wilfork amazingly off the bench. Our DEs will be very good this year but we don't have the DT depth of 01 obviously.

LB - 01 and it's not close. I hope we have a Vilma and/or DJ on today's roster but that's probably a stretch.

DB - 01 obviously, but kinda close just for the depth now. Ed Reed and P-Buch are legends. Bryce could be but not yet obviously. I love today's corners but they're not quite 01 level.

STs - 01. Capshaw and Joyce are a push but Sievers was rock solid. Not sure what our PK situation will be this year. P-Buch and Mali are the same kind of threat to house a PR.

Coaching - 26. '01 team had excellent position coaches but Dawson and Heatherman are better than Chud and Shannon I think. Mario and Butch were similar but Mario is improving.

Clearly the 01 team is superior but it's a little closer than you'd think, IMO. There's talent enough to run the table.

He played first round level in the playoffs. If he repeats in 2026 he’ll climb the list quickly. I think the knocks on him are speed and vision. He showed both down the stretch but last regular season is still a drag.

Emphasis on "could" not one of them is playing at first round level consistently yet. I know the upside is there. But there's a lot of work to go and a lot of games to be played.
