FIU since Butch arrived

Butch Davis has done well at FIU.

My main problem is the tenure at UNC-the last time he was actually in a power conference.

If doing well is getting blown out by the team up north every time they play then I guess you could say he's done alright.

In 2015 FIU smacked FAU 31-17
In 2016 FIU lost by 2 points 33-31
In 2013 FIU won 21-6
Mario didn't do too bad. I'm not a Mario fan though.

I remember reading somewhere that FIU had the lowest all time winning percentage in FBS before Davis took over. (Although part of that was because FIU has such a short football history, which makes it easier to have a bad all time win %.)

23-15 there is pretty good. However, doing well at a C-USA team doesn’t always translate into doing well in the Power 5. There is some question as to whether Davis would be a good Power 5 coach at this stage in his career.

So why can't he beat FAU? Yet Mario spanked FAU twice and lost once by 2 points.

Mario went 27-47 at FIU and got fired. Butch will only have Mario’s record at FIU if he goes 5-32 in his next 37 games.

FIU’s 0-12 before Mario took over is a little deceptive because they lost a bunch of close games before the brawl. (Including to a pair of 9-4 BCS conference teams in USF and Maryland.) Their point differentials got a lot worse after the brawl because they suspended their participants for the rest of the season, not just the Alabama game the next week.
