First female COS hired in NFL

Huge Miami Hurricanes fan. Good for her. Dont quite get why her looks are relevant to the discussion. Not exactly something that can be helped. She wants to be involved with a football front office- she's not trying to be Kaitlin Jenner and spreading her buttcheeks for playboy.

In terms of being qualified for the position- yes, she is qualified to be a COS. Were there more experienced candidates that didn't get hired? Maybe. But that's the case for a lot of jobs. Pretty much every job I've had, I've landed over more experienced candidates, but my bosses chose me because I am good at dealing with difficult people. A COS is going to be the HCs filter to prevent the coach from dealing with minutiae. She might be really good at that. She also has FCS football coaching experience.

Also, if you think a woman isn't capable of being in the front office of a football team- Condi Rice leads the BCS playoff committee and says her dream job is to be the Commissioner of the NFL. Do you think she's unqualified for that job?

"Huge Miami Hurricanes fan."

Simply because of that I am rooting for her success.

Trying to be open minded but I just have a hard time believing this person is the most qualified candidate available.
I must agree. I think the programs the NFL has encouraging organizations to be progressive when hiring women and minorities are great, however I think if the positions are handed out without proper qualifications the people hired to them may be seen as "token" which doesn't help anyone.

Unfortunately most of these programs require more oversight than they currently have in order for them to achieve the goal they were created for to reach in the first place.

Why?! Based on the fact that they hired a female coach? Or that she's a female that looks like a dude? Do we ignore whether she's qualified to do the job or not? Jus sayin'.... :noidea:

Because women have no place in the game of football. They belong in the stands, not the sideline. This was political/agenda driven. Far more qualified candidates were passed over in the process as well. Apparently the Browns actually wish to put a lousy product on the field, so I am going to support them by rooting for their demise.

She's a very handsome woman

I'm sure half of America was none the wiser to that commercial last night, possibly even inspired from it. To each his own.. I thought it was typical staged, PC theatrics. She is not out there running practice. I digress.

I get where you coming from with the comment about political driven bullsh1t. But If she's truly paid her dues, was the best qualified candidate, and knows the game, then I don't have an issue with it. I, for one, am getting tired of seeing qualified brothas getting passed over for Head Coaching opportunities, but that's a different discussion for another day.

This commercial has been getting run for a few weeks, I imagine her role is more assistance with game planning, film breakdown, etc. Could that lead to an on-field position sure, but I highly doubt that's her role right now.

I will say I went to college with the Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach for Tampa Bay and her responsibilities are almost identical to that of the head S&C coach, very different than an offensive assistant but women are moving into more hands on positions.

I'm all for qualified people getting jobs. Don't care what gender, race or religion. If two candidates are even, I'm ok with the minority getting the opportunity first. However, she isn't remotely qualified for a COS position in college, must less the NFL.

Good info though. Thanks for sharing.

I agree with most of this. I don't see the bold being that way but would love to here your side of that, one day. (open dialogue is only way to fix things)
