First big test will be Toledo

One would hope that the team will treat this game like it's the Super Bowl.

Their poor showing against Bethune, the long layoff, the prospect of beating FSU in a few weeks.

We'll learn a lot about Richt and this program against Toledo. If they come out flat it's a huge problem imo.

Last sentence is dead on accurate.

I don't think you can gauge that completely with the way they come out. I think it's more telling the way they play as the game progresses.

I anticipate them coming out slowly and then picking it up as the second half starts.

They better play football like Ed Generro played football. A guy who gave his life for his football team. He was a 140-pound halfback, and he played like a god**** wild-man. No, like a god**** rampaging beast. And that's the way you got to do it. You go out there, you tear their ******* heads off, and you **** down their necks.

I don't see them looking ahead to anyone right now. They were flat against Bethune. They've just been through a hurricane and their lives have been turned upside down. About the only thing they can control right now is how they play in this game, so I think they'll be focused.

Lives turned upside down? High drama.

No excuses about lack of practice or Irma.

If we are cleared to take the field, then this team better be fired up & ready to destroy whoever sets foot in our house.

God spared Hard Rock stadium, not a single bolt came loose, therefore we must make an Old Testament style Biblical sacrifice in order to show our deference.

The Toldeo Rockets shall be our offering to Yahweh

LOL at the high drama regarding Toledo.

It's fūcking Toledo.

What I expect is a complete game, not a perfect game, from both sides of the ball. I'd say about a 3 TD win, or more. That's good enough. Do that and get ready for a possible, though not likely, trap game at Duke.

What I think will happen is they come up highly focused and energized, but I'm not a perfect prognosticator either. A few mistakes here or there, especially from some freshmens, is not going to totally shock me, not because of lack of focus or energy, but because of rustiness. But nothing that would affect the actual outcome of the game.

Again, it's Toledo.

There is always some negative affect for lack of training, film sessions and practice, but we should handle Toledo.

I personally believe Tiny Toledo will play Miami TOUGH for the first-half, and maybe the third quarter. Simply because too MUCH TIME OFF will hurt Miami more than Cane fan wants to admit! dUh.

How have you not been BAND Yet?

For all the Deplorables out there it is : "BANNED."

Nope... It's Band here. For example, here's one of my past favorites:

Hmm so my OP wasn't so dumb? Too high level I guess for half you softies on this board.

Any game at home against an unranked, MAC opponent simply cannot be a "big test." Sprinkle in that Toledo lost to App State last year (with the same QB OP is so scared of) and this thread loses what little facade of credibility it pretends to have. The only thing that will be tested September 23 is Toledo's composure in the face of total annihilation.

There is a nuanced difference between stating a game is a "big test" because of "realistic concerns" and stating it will be a problem if the team comes out flat against an opponent they need to take more seriously than their previous opponent in the wake of a serious disruption to their routine (i.e., Hurricane Irma).

I agree that we will learn a lot about the state of the program and how Richt leads these young men based on whether they come out to start the game with intensity or not. But not all learning experiences are "big tests." Even if we laid an egg in the first quarter, I would still expect us to devour the souls of Toledo's entire football team (including their scary-talented QB) the remainder of the game.

EDIT: I almost forgot, lol at anyone starting a thread professing "concerns" about playing an unranked MAC school at home calling anyone soft for disagreeing with his OP.

Your OP was both dumb and ghey.

I agreed with Rok that if Rick doesn't get the team prepared and they come out flat, then it's a huge problem with regard to Rick. That has nothing to do with Toledo.

Now that we can all agree this is the FIRST TEST of the season, lets address why you continually inject homosexuality into every thread? I understand the humor but why all the time? Do you have something to tell everyone about yourself? Its ok man, nobody will be offended if you are .
