first back to back 9 win seasons in eight years

Not dumb *** enough. Still officially locked in 19 wins over 2 years for our best back to back in a bit.

He wastes more time and more plays than the law allows.

One mixes up plays to never let the opponent set up for you. What you show - you don't do.

What you do, you don't show. It's really simple.

We started out good - and put the brakes on later. Like usual. Lost two games that we never should have lost.

Play after play - up the middle - getting maybe three yards on a good play - and when it becomes 3rd and long - what are the chances that we're going to pass?

It's this kind of stupidity that's just so frustrating.

The offense game plan was great first half
Not so second
We plan and scheme so uneven

Oh boy.

We were 8-4 in 2016 and our bowl game made it 9. However, according to everyone on this site those are meaningless… so…

I Have No Idea Idk GIF by MOODMAN
well that makes this accomplishment even greater ... last back to back 9 win seasons was ...
2004 ... 9-3
2005 ... 9-3

We're building a solid foundation right now. We're so close and there's still so much to improve. It's gonna happen
The million dollar question is can Mario elevate from here. The people who knew him when he was hired warned us that the days of 5-7 wins were over but 9-10 wins were his ceiling and that's exactly who we are even with maybe the top 2 portal QBs back to back.

IMO, yes. This era we're in right now reminds me a lot of the "Clemsoning" era. We have room for improvement in every facet of the program and we narrowly missed the playoffs back to back years.

Can you explain the 2nd half you saw that you think Mario went conservative on offense? We scored on our first drive on a great drive. Then we get the ball back and were fine until the center snapped the ball for a 15 yard loss to our 2 yard line. What did you want him to call after that? We ran for 6 yards to get off our goaline and then called a pass play.

We then can't get them off the field and when we finally get the ball back we get another holding penalty and have to punt from the VT 40. We then got the ball back and scored to end the game on a 4th and 2 pass to Mali.

When did the scheme change? He was running end arounds with 2 mins to go.

When did he go conservative?
Did I say conservative

First half lots of eye candy
Allowing Beck to go flats and seems
Second half was run, screen, run screen

We stopped executing the first half offense in second
Period

And I said uneven

Yeah, I wouldn't consider this season a failure at all. More like last season, a missed opportunity and disappointment.

But we are building and I'm well aware of where we were.

We also have to realize 2 things:

1. Mario is in no way shape or form an elite coach.
2. Mario is also going to be here for a long time as long as he stays in the 8-10 win category.

Give it time. These things aren't easy to turn around. Just ask LSU, USC, Texas, etc.

Took Harbaugh **** near a decade.
Maybe our meat head coach needs to get a coach on the opposing team sideline to steal signals lol

I agree and disagree we are building. Our talent level is top shelf.
We still need to get a quarterback in for more than one year at a time
And most importantly, meathead needs to be a better coach as well as the whole staff
We can’t be flat coming out of a buy we can’t lose close games to inferior opponents until those things change and we start blowing teams out that we should blow out. We will continue to struggle to get through a dog **** conference unscathed.

Seems like we’re stabilizing into a perennial playoff contender. We need to somehow hit on a elite multi year QB cause Mario will never be a scheme/gameday wizard

Neither Beck or Ward were considered the best portal QB when we landed them.. Beck in particular has not the played like the top portal QB this year, Cam obviously did.
