First 4 games this year vs last year

I hear ya but think it’s diff this year
We have the horses up front on both sides of ball
Mario has upgraded in every **** position…
I expect a clean game v GT, then it’s On
I want Mack browns fat old ***!!! He’s put it on us every chance he’s had I’d love us to drill those fruitcakes
We definitely owe those Tobacco Road tea-sips a beat down.

The team is better, but the defense still worries me especially against better competition. I think we'll drop three the rest of the way.

The biggest difference between this year and other recent hot starts is that we've actually done it against a legit opponent. The 2016 team came out the chute hot but it was against an FCS, two G5s and Georgia Tech.

There hasn't been a lot of smoke and mirrors in these games either. If anything the scores look closer than the actual game because Mario has been willing to empty the bench and hasn't been rushing injured starters back.

yall are acting like TAMU didn't have a good big OLINE and we dominated them. so im confused maybe its just scheme for the lesser opponents. until we play a game and get gashed then ill worry but for now were doing what needs to be done no both sides.

No idea how good Bethune's O was last year, but we let them have 350 yards. This year they had less than 100 prior to their final drive.

Agreed. The dline should be dominating and it doesnt happen, if they are "sticky" with the olines now I could only imagine with better quality.. There is no reason they shouldnt be blowing by these oline on way to qb..
They're college players also! Don't underestimate the players on the other teams.

lol we're the same person. As you know for whatever the reason since year 1 and that is we have always struggled in the ACC
Help me understand your thought process. So you see the team doing great but you are waiting for the "Oh Crap" moment. Like you don't want to let your guard down because as soon as you do then Miami just folds like a cheap tent. Am I right?

Ok look. I mean absolutely no disrespect but let me say a few things that may or may not help you out. To begin, generally speaking teams don't just all of a sudden become great. They don't just become national championship contenders from one year to the next. That takes a ton of hard work from players to coaches to recruiting department and so on. If you are going to be disappointed if we lose a game then let me save you the suspense because it's very likely we will.

Is there an outside shot that we go undefeated in the regular season? Yes of course there is but that is very unlikely. There is that outside shot because of 2 very important factors. Elite QB and an elite OL. We have both and our defense isn't too shabby and having those will win you a lot of games but I digress.

Understand that the success you are witnessing is very real and in no way a fluke. That success we are all watching is made possible because Mario Cristobal has a plan. He knew that Gattis was cheeks and that Steele was out to pasture. He knew he had botched those hires so he went about correcting them and brought in the 2 new coordinators we now have who have been amazing. He got rid of a few position coaches and upgraded big-time. He saw that dozens of players on the 2022 squad didn't belong here so he sent them packing. He signed an elite class of freshmen and brought in a good amount of portal transfers. With the help of Alonzo Highsmith they have been very particular of the type of player they bring in. They concentrated on specific body types for each position. The emphasis on size plus athleticism and speed.

While all this was happening Mario and staff had already started the wholesale changes in the way the team was run in season and in the off season. No more country club. Now there was accountability and a laser like focus on nutrition, weight room, practice and film study. Practices were hard and the coaching was tough but it was all with the goal of getting better everyday and resetting and refocusing on the old Miami standard. Only players who were passionate about being the best football players they could be and about upholding Miami's proud tradition would stick. There was a non negotiable focus on fundamentals and details. No shortcuts and no taking the easy way. You were expected to block and to tackle and to do it well or you don't play. A renewed emphasis on competition and getting better everyday became the mantra. The message was simple. No talking about this and that and what you are going to do. None of that style over substance crap anymore. Now it was just shut up and get to work because we have a long way to go to get where we want to be.

The first year was a disaster in terms of W/L and product on the field but it was that first year that allowed Mario to see the mistakes he had made. So to repeat, he shipped off dozens of players, replaced both coordinators and some position coaches, signed a top ten class and one of the top portal classes and kept working. You see Mario knew that he had an elite QB in Tyler Van Dyke and he also knew that he had to put him in an offense that would allow him to flourish by letting him play fast and free in an air raid type passing attack that would be great for TVD and exciting to watch so recruits could see that he isn't the second coming of Woody Hayes. Here is where it gets good though. See, Mario wanted to have a high octane passing attack to feature his stud QB and to attract QBs and WRs for the next recruiting class but he also knew that having a great running game would be crucial in becoming a championship contender.

Mario and Zo knew that the quickest way to become competitive at a high level knowing they already had their stud QB was to build the best OL they could. Historically building a high caliber elite level offensive line would take years of development along with a ton of bumps and bruises. Luckily for us we are living in the portal era. They knew they had Jalen Rivers and they knew that Anez Cooper was going to be a special player but they needed to add a center and another guard. Enter Matt Lee and Javion Cohen then add true freshman Francis Mauigoa at RT and the rest of the best OL recruiting class in the nation to bolster depth. The way that this OL came together and gelled like they have is a testament to the coaching abilities of Alex Mirabal and it doesn't hurt that the head coach is a former OL and OL coach. Then well thought out additions like Francisco Mauigoa at MLB, Jaden Davis at CB, Cam McCormick at TE, Ajay Allen at RB, KJ Cloyd at LB, Tyler Harrell at WR and I can't leave out Kevin Beard as WR coach who has done an outstanding job getting the best out of and developing guys like Colby Young and Jacolby George.

That was long and involved because I was trying to make a point and that point is that what you see with this team isn't some mirage that's going to disappear as soon as we start ACC play. We are not playing great football just because of us just randomly starting out hot. No. A ton of hard work and really long hours went into that. This team isn't built on chewing gum, duct tape and paper mache. It's been built on long hours of eating right, lifting, training, meetings, film study and very tough and physical practices. This squad is unified. Not because they have to be but because at some point during all the grinding and all the blood, sweat and tears, these young men became a brotherhood. Look at the execution, look at the tackling, look at the body language and look at the mental toughness. You think last years squad just shrugs off a blocked punt in our end plus a muffed punt both in the first quarter and both leading to ATM touchdowns? No way! So don't worry about this team just spiraling down. Yes this team will face much better competition in ACC play but this team is built on a very solid foundation. They aren't going to just roll over. This team has completely bought in to Mario and staffs plan but most importantly this team has truly become a team because they have begun to play for each other. This squad may lose a game or three but they will fight tooth and nail to the end. The only way this squad spirals down is because they are hit with a huge rash of key injuries. So take in what a truly big leap these kids have made from last year to this year and don't worry about anything falling apart or spiralling. Too much hard work went into this for it to break like a cheap umbrella. This isn't a gimmick. This is as real as it gets and the best part is that we will continue to improve next year and the year after and on and on until we reach the pinnacle. Go Canes!

Well said and will force some negative Nellie's to think, a little. Thanks for the cold water for a lot of these fans.

Bethune got 165 yards total offense, that's with the 2nds and 3rds playing the whole second half. Temple got 279 yards total yards with the 2nds and 3rds playing the 4th quarter. They got 3 sacks against a QB that takes a short drop. I'm sorry that didn't live up to your expectations, but it's not chopped liver.

Most importantly, they got off the field, gave the offense the opportunity to do their thing, and had no injuries.

It rarely does. That's where Guidry will earn his salary. Rewatch the A&M game. Guidry called a different game.

That's what any team does, even Bama or Ga, when faced with an OL that has size and is athletic. They'll see what works and what doesn't, make adjustments, then dial up the pressure. They'll do anything to speed up the QBs clock and disrupt him.

That's not to say, it's not something to monitor. I just think after 4-0 start (which after the final scrimmage, everyone would take in a heartbeat), it's too early to slash our wrists. We'll know more after Ga Tech and UNC.
You can't always talk logic to some fans.
