First 4 games this year vs last year

I hear ya but think it’s diff this year
We have the horses up front on both sides of ball
Mario has upgraded in every **** position…
I expect a clean game v GT, then it’s On
I want Mack browns fat old ***!!! He’s put it on us every chance he’s had I’d love us to drill those fruitcakes
I absolutely Hope that’s the case. Def feel like this team is in better position.

Aside from obviously having a better offensive coordinator difference for Cristobol’s offense, the Canes have better players at every position, acquired through recruiting, player development and/or transfers. The starters on the entire offensive line are immensely better across the board. Rivers is healthy, Cohen and Lee are transfers, Cooper has transformed his body and his game, and MAIGUOA was a high level recruit. TVD rarely gets touched and he is very healthy this season. Receivers are vastly improved with skills, technique and strength and conditioning. The running backs are all healthy and deeper. The TE is a better blocker.

That explains why the Canes offense is so much better than last season. 40 new Canes players (transfers and recruits). We basically have a new team 🏈❗

Texas A&M is the only test this team has seen so far. We blew out the other 3 like we’re supposed to. GT is a step up above those 3 but much lesser than A&M. UNC will be the first real test on the road. They have a top 5 pick at QB and we’ve struggled big time against them in recent years. If this team can get healthy and stay relatively healthy, 8-9 wins definitely is a possibility. Haven’t really proved much yet. Our offense definitely looks better no doubt. The secondary and pass-rush scares me the most on this team. Getting Kinchens back can help the secondary some but the corners definitely look suspect. No pass-rush against bad teams is scary. Mesidor and Deen should help but even without them, we should’ve been able to get consistent pressure. The DT group is definitely better than the edge group.
Agreed. The dline should be dominating and it doesnt happen, if they are "sticky" with the olines now I could only imagine with better quality.. There is no reason they shouldnt be blowing by these oline on way to qb..

8-9 wins is a possibility? We already have 4 and play GT & UVA at home, neither of which are even as good as Miami OH, who we stomped. These are highly probable wins. That leaves 6 games - Clemson & Louisville at home, at UNC, at NC State, at FSU, & at BC. According to you, if we stay healthy, there's a "possibility" we go 2-4 or 3-3 in those games (unspoken assumption that we may very well do worse)? Are you watching the same games I'm watching? I can understand the hesitation considering the last 20 years, but this a different product on the field. Apart from the obvious upgrades on the OL, elsewhere on the roster and the coaching staff, the team just has a different focus this season.

Yeah, I realize we haven't proven ourselves yet. Just calling it like I see it. Even 3-3 in those games (9 wins for the season) seems pessimistic. I think [BGCOLOR=initial]we win 10 or more, and as I've speculated before, legitimately contend for the ACC and a CFP spot. [/BGCOLOR]

I don't know if you've noticed but we've been playing the last two games with a 4 man pass rush with 3 of our 4 starters out. I've also noticed the holdings are still not being called. It's a little too early to start questioning things. I'd suspect Guidry will start ratcheting things up and call the game similar to the A&M game once we get into ACC play.

Oh **** forreal?! lol.. I just expect guys to be able to produce against bethune atleast first 6-8 guys, they should smash them.. if they are sticky with bethune giving up the edge with no contain, dropping ends and such I dont see how that changes against better competition. Looks like we gonna have to send blitzes to get pressure..

I don’t think we really know what we’ve got with this team, but it’s been a long time since we started this well. In the past we’d win this game, but there would be legit concerns. Today it’s what? I guess I would have like TVD to complete 80% against Temple. And fewer penalties. It really nothing to complain about, and that’s progress.
According to PFF when accounting for drops his completion percentage was actually 83%. Rain was a factor yesterday…

Bethune got 165 yards total offense, that's with the 2nds and 3rds playing the whole second half. Temple got 279 yards total yards with the 2nds and 3rds playing the 4th quarter. They got 3 sacks against a QB that takes a short drop. I'm sorry that didn't live up to your expectations, but it's not chopped liver.

Most importantly, they got off the field, gave the offense the opportunity to do their thing, and had no injuries.

It rarely does. That's where Guidry will earn his salary. Rewatch the A&M game. Guidry called a different game.

Looks like we gonna have to send blitzes to get pressure..
That's what any team does, even Bama or Ga, when faced with an OL that has size and is athletic. They'll see what works and what doesn't, make adjustments, then dial up the pressure. They'll do anything to speed up the QBs clock and disrupt him.

That's not to say, it's not something to monitor. I just think after 4-0 start (which after the final scrimmage, everyone would take in a heartbeat), it's too early to slash our wrists. We'll know more after Ga Tech and UNC.

After last year, every game is a test. Period.

TAMU was the only test but Miami (OH) looks to be surprisingly decent. They’ve blown out the lesser teams on their schedule and beat Cincinnati at Cincinnati.

Did you watch that game? I think they had 40yds of O at half time. Only did anything against third stringers. Also when a team does the quick pass offensively it’s hard to put up a lot of sacks.

We have the 20th hardest schedule through 4 weeks. Miami O is actually not a bad team and beat Cincinatti

You know who also never gets touched? Bo nix. Common denominator?

I’m just happy to finally see that we’re getting some good coaching and a different mentality. Very professional mindset and it’s also cool to see we are multi dimensional. Tough day to throw? Eh let’s just run for 300. A&M tough against the run? Eh light ‘em up with 5 TDS through the air.

I like Dawsons mindset.
