Firing the head coach and promoting the defensive coordinator

Yeah I remember that announcement,...I was 7 years old and was brushing my teeth and lost a tooth.

Haven't brushed my teeth since.

The answer to your question is....no one has any effing idea. This typically doesn't work. Yes Clemson got lucky with Dabo but most of the time it ends like Coker and Shannon. What a disaster. They didn't even have to pay a huge buyout for Richt. All the potential opportunity for this hire completely wasted. ****kkkinngg idiots.

FYI, Dabo had never been a coordinator. Youth, intensity and desire can get you there, ask Dabo.

Dabo wasnt the OC or DC....Clemson gave him half the season to prove what he could do. And yes the Admin/BOT screwed this up

Diaz hasn't snuffed out all hope yet- he could still hire Bedenbaugh or Kiffin for OC and it would be a killer combo. Being this is Miami, I half expect he'll announce Brown as OC tomorrow and finish stomping on my dreams.

I like Coach brown as a coach and even i don’t want that to happen lol...

We need a BIG hire as oc for this program

Why do people think Kiffin is going to leave a HC gig to become an offensive coordinator?

HC Manny Diaz
OC Lane Kiffin
QB Tee Martin
RB Tee Martin
WR Ron Dugans
TE Todd Hartley
OL Cole Popovich
DC Greg Schiano
DL Jess Simpson
LB Jonathan Patke
CB Mike Rumph
S Ephraim Banda
ST Banda & Hartley

Get to crooting. Start by locking down Bogle, Sorrells, Stevenson & Dent for defense. A QB 4* WR, a plus TE and 2 4* OL.

Kiffin makes 950k at FAU (might be hard to believe but true)

Diaz sure as **** isn't making Rick money (4+ mil) My guess is in the 2.7-3 mil range. BOT already said an additional 1 mil for OC for Rick. Miami could conceivably hire Kiffin at 2 mil, and it would cost less than Rick+Diaz+random OC. Could literally more than double his salary from FAU.

Honestly I find this hiring to be worse than Shannon.

While I’m not defending the Shannon hiring, the admin actually inquired with other coaches before hiring him. Unfortunately, none of the other coaches seemed to be interested.

In the Diaz hiring, Miami pretty much decided who it wanted from the beginning.

1. I’m not that happy about Manny but am warming up to it
2. Manny never threw any of his guys under the bus the way Richt and Thomas Brown did. Thomas Brown isn’t that great of a recruiter and a Richt lackey, hit the road

Dugans can stay and Hartley can stay on O, but need a new ST guy. We need a legit OL coach, an innovator play caller, and someone with experience developing QBs

We actually hired Temple’s HC, not our DC.

If you can’t see how different this is from hiring Shannon, you are willfully blind.

Diaz never actually coached a game at Temple.

With that being said, what happened the last time we hired Temple’s head coach? That wasn’t a very good experience.

Shannon and Diaz are not the same person. They have different personalities. Coaches fail because they fail to hire competent subordinates. Richt hired Diaz and Kool etc and the D improved. He hired Brown to be a lacky so he could call plays and the O was a mess. Diaz's hires will determine his fatex not because he was a promoted DC like Shannon

Shannon got a bad rap.

He wasn't prepared to be a HC (the PR, communication, etc)
Doesn't have the command presence that Manny has.
He was only able to hire his 3rd and 4th choices for assistants due to the University being cheap.
He only got 4 year. Had he gotten a 5th year, we'd have signed Teddy Bridgewater, then who knows what.

He was better than Golden
