Fire stick????

I've posted this several times regarding a firestick. You can get the standard or 4k by Amazon. If you don't have a 4k TV the 4k may not work.

Download sportz TV app. You can follow troypoint.com for installation instructions. I pay $25 a month for 4 devices. You get 8k channels. Every sports channel you can think of. No DVR but the games get downloaded to YouTube anyway so it doesn't matter. It does have a an on demand system for movies and TV shows

Listen up old timers:

HDMI to TV+Reddit CFB/NFL streams = unlimited free football

From,
A broke college kid

Fair enough, but a great part of being an "old timer" in my mid-forties and rolling along in my career; I earn enough money to not give a **** about the cost of cable and just go about my life without having to come up with broke-*** college era hacks—which I was most-certainly was in the nineties.

Illegal cable box, two VCRs hooked up to duplicate movies, ripping / copying CDs a few years later, stealing empty kegs from behind a Bennigan's and returning to the package store for $15 a pop. If there was a scam or life hack, I was all over it.

Currently I enjoy messing with cable companies in my free time; signing up for one- or two-year promos, taking them to the cleaners (as many offer hundreds of dollars in Visa gift cards) and then punting on them when the promo is up, going to the next-best offer. Leaving Cox for AT&T next week as the $500 in free gift cards as a fun way to stick it to those pricks and to notch some little victories along the way for sh*ts and grins.

Applaud the effort on your part, but not going that route has nothing to do with age and everything to do with disposable income.

Here's hoping your current resourcefulness translates to a successful career. Dig your style.

You can get alot of apks and also get info to "unlock" your firestick from youtube videos posted daily..Can get alot of channels from sports, movies current and old to current tv shows on all channels including those from hulu, netflix, amazon prime etc..

So bottom line does Sling on the Firestick work?

I need to get this **** settled before the last minute.

Yep. Works fine

I seem to recall that Sling is one of the Apps on the main page .... meaning I don't have to go through the steps of adding YouTubeTV through a workaround. If anyone can chime in if that is correct?

My AppleTV is an older version so it doesn't have nor support YoutubeTV and doesn't have the App Store to download either.

My cable company (Hotwire Communications) has turned watching this game into a multi-day odyssey by not having the ACCn.

Care to elaborate? My wife and I are starting to talk about cutting the cord and aren't sure of the best route to do that and still get sports channels, normal channels like ABC, NBC, etc and kids channels for our 6 and 8 year old.

I would suggest a Roku Ultra for your main watching TV and then the lower end Roku's for other bedroom tvs etc. Any internet only tv provider (Sling, Playstation Vue, You Tube Tv, Etc,) will give you local stations. They will also include most Disney channels and Nickelodeon. You can add additional channels if you wish. I think personally the sling orange and blue (Barf colors) package is one of the best around. You simply download the app on your Roku and you are ready to watch tv.

I'm going to check out Lenox if it is only $20/month.

I currently use Hulu for live streaming, which has the ACC Network, but it's $45 a month. Only thing you don't get with Hulu is ABC, but for ABC sports you can watch through the ESPN ap with your Hulu login.

As far as which fire stick to get - just get the best/newest one available. Older/cheaper ones have slower processing speed, which will drive you crazy, and less memory for DVR storage.

thanks so much

Is Sling or YouTubeTV best for watching the game(s)? or are they the same?

Similar, Sling will be $20 cheaper and will give you Pac 12 network. Outside of that I dont think there is much of a difference for college football.

Oh ya and with sling you will get NFL Redzone.

Sling you will buy the orange packge for $20 and add the sports pack for $10. I did playstation Vue before sling came to terms with ACC. I like Vue but will switch to sling at the end of my month with Vue.

For sling can anyone tell me if I need only Orange package or do I also need to add the sports package in order to see the ACCN?

Roku. Amazon stick doesn't let you do YouTube tv. I think YouTube tv is the best streaming service by far. Unlimited dvr

I hate AmazonFire. It’s geared to make you buy Amazon shows and movies. Roku is more open and better.

Firetv stick and Roku are just streaming devices. You still need a streaming app like Youtubetv or Sling to get the ACC network. Think of them as your cable box that hook up to your tv and Youtubetv or Sling are the cable companies providing the content.
