Fire Shannon Dawson

Hate this mfer so **** much can’t even sleep. Predictable and thinks he’s the smartest in the room. We’ve been dragging his corpse for some time now. Ward last year and the defense this year. Hated the hire from the beginning. Dana took away his playcalling.

Somebody tell me why I’m wrong in thinking that Dawson was trying to protect Beck in the first half?

I’m not sure that Dawson - in his heart of hearts - ever trusted Beck.

I think Dawson always believed that Beck could win you the game, but he could also lose you the game.

I think the first half was about trying to avoid a costly interception.

Not defending it… but I think that’s the explanation.

Sigh. No he did not, brother. I worked there at the time. Did not happen

Other than Malachi Tony, what elite receivers are you talking about?
Jacobs and Vaugn should be clear upgrades at outside WR over Marion and CJ. Wingo and a more experienced Moore and Upshaw will help to make the offense more dynamic. The TE as receiving option can't be any worse than it was this year. Agree with @E1k that our offense was severely limited all season by our outside WRs. The rare times we caught them in m2m tonight we couldn't win/screwed up outside: the CJ 3rd down pass that #22 broke up, Moore running the screen wrong (which should have been a TD and was a fantastic call by Dawson), Marion against Ponds in the 4th down the sideline, etc.

Dawson probably wishes he had called more wide zone and less duo, but you also have to give a ton of credit to IU, they did a great job defending duo, and when they didn't their LBer leg whipped Fletcher and didn't get called for it.

Correct. No one is saying that the ball should have. The play call vs cover 2 was horrendous
You don’t call plays knowing what the defense will run, this isn’t EA CFB26 anymore on freshman mode brother. Putting that throw on Dawson is mind blowing, wake up. You wanna question the 1st half play calling? I will hear you out.

I'm guessing Dawson evaluated Beck as a huge liability and just marched forward with what he had. Limited his playbook. Any portal quarterback thinking about coming to Miami next season should be excited to have Fletch/Brown in the backfield, and Trader (he'll get more burn if he stays), Toney, and an OLine. We are going to reload--no doubt. Beck failed to take advantage of his chance at a chip. Menseh can come get his turn with a team already build and ready.
He didn't limit ***** you see the difference in the 1st and 2nd half play calling

You don’t design a go-route without another offensive player in the flat to draw away the CB. Brother that’s 101. Go routes and streaks are not effective if two defenders are covering the WR lol. It’s the whole point of designing a target for the flat

As a QB that’s been in CFB since 2020 why are you even looking at that side of the field? You’ve got 2 defenders covering 1 man

Dude what? Who told you that? It either turns into a 1 on 1 post snap or what happens happened. The safety helped the corner over the top and you have a middle of the field to work with because the other safety has to defend the 2 guys who pushed vertical on his side Pressure of the edge probably stops it but he had Mali and then baumann on a glance route. Put it on his numbers it’s a td

Again, throwing the ball isn’t my argument. Go to another thread about Beck’s mistake and you’ll find my comment about his terrible decision.

But argue the point here. True or false: on go-routes with an X receiver, should OC’s also design routes by another offensive player for the flat in order to pull the CB? Yes or no

Well it’s all over X now with ppl like Richard Sherman saying the same thing Ive been arguing for. But what the **** does he know?

He called two touchdown plays that will haunt me forever. One beck didn’t have the patience for and the second was a bad route by a freshman. Moore catches that no one touches him out of the door.
The Daniels plays for like 20 yards, Toney was open Deep for clear td if he uncorked it before he started trying to scramble in pocket to buy time he already had. We scored a TD that drive though, and ultimately a 20 yarder is nothing to complain about...

Yes of course. Was Beck throwing a go route? Or was it miscommunication ? Was he expecting the deep in route that they connected on vs Ole Miss? If that was a Go route shame on Beck imo
