If the committee is smart, you force Miami and ND in the playoff (assuming both win out) and you match them up round 1. You also throw Oregon into Miami's side of the bracket, and if it makes sense OSU.

The whole concept of a playoff is to generate more revenue, and it's done by creating intriguing storylines.

BYU, Utah, and Vandy are cute stories but no one cares. Force feed the matchups and make your money college football

I will say again, it’s good for the playoff/ESPN if Miami makes it into the tournament. Double the viewership of GT

Let's say the favorites win out the last two weeks. If the CFP were smart (which I seriously question), you put Miami vs Oregon (immediate storyline of Mario vs Oregon) winner plays UGA (Beck or Lanning vs UGA). Set up the bracket so if they both win out, Miami vs ND in the title game. Massive ratings.

We have to win the next two games

Unless you’re new to cfb… you fully understand that 1) ND will always be ranked higher preseason than they deserve… ALWAYS. And 2) Every excuse, concession and allowance will be made for them at the end of the year unless they just **** down their leg during the season.

ND being highly ranked helped us too though. that win got us to number 2 in the country. without it, we wouldnt be in the top 2.

we just punted the goodwill from the win away with the SMU loss

We lose two ACC games by 9 points total and get penalized, yet ND lost to Northern Illinois and got in still lol

Surprised he was defending Miami, said ND should not be ahead, he also called out the ND bias! Wow!

The answer is simple.

He is "defending" Miami because he wants Notre Dame to have a lower ranking. NOT because he thinks Miami should have a higher ranking.

I don't see why ANYONE gives him attention or respect or credibility any longer. He has proven, time and time again, that he will say anything and use one-sided logic to promote the top 8 SEC teams to Rankings 1-8.

Paul Finebaum IS rat poison.

Stop with the "punted the goodwill" stuff. It was ALWAYS "transactional goodwill". The goodwill disappears if we ever start to cost a precious SEC team one of their undeserved spots at the pig trough.

And the ND game is obviously far in the rearview. A win against a RANKED Pitt team will give us a push that "but but but, Miami beat ND in Week 1" is obviously not providing.

We need RECENCY BIAS. If Pitt had beaten ND and then GaTech, we would easily be in with a win over Pitt.

Exactly. This isn't some homer take these teams have the same record with similar schedules. One beat the other. It's not that complex.

It is more complex when people forget about the two ND losses in the first two weeks.

RECENCY BIAS. People need to wake up and learn what it is. We need to beat Pitt and we need Pitt to look as threatening as possible before we do it.

Like it or not, the SEC plays meaningful games in November. And I'm not talking about "5-way tie for first place" meaningful, when DUKE still has a shot at the championship game, I'm talking about Top 25 vs. Top 25 meaningful.
