We are a couple of years away from competing at the level of the elite programs. We have elite pedigree, but at the moment we are not an elite program. I would say we are about a top 25 program.

I was amazed at the amount of depth Bama has. I really believe the second unit across the board would beat us by double digits. Outside of one or two players on our team, our talent level is about their second team level.

We need our defensive line to go two-deep. As we saw against Wisconsin, we do not have any depth on the d-line.

We have to get more elite players. This is Manny Diaz's number one job. We need four and five stars supplemented with high-end three stars. With no more than one or two undervalued two- stars.

It is about the Jimmy and Joes not X's and O's.

Bull****. We are a solid coaching staff away from competing with them. Hopefully we have it very soon.

Ten Years ago we said "we are two recruiting classes away ..." When will it ever end?

We do not have the talent or depth to compete with them. When Clemson beat us 58-0, Clemson had players who were not the depth chart coming in and making plays. They have talent, depth and competent coaching staffs.

When Clemson beat us, we were coached by Al golden.

In football, you can coach around defensive depth, with a strong running game and punt game. Had we played any of those teams with this years defense backed up by a strong running game and punt game, they would've had a hardtime driving downfield. Now if you can combine that with an offense that can put points on the board, you'll get em. They can have all the depth they want, if you got elite players on the first teams, you'll be in the game, just cant make it to much of a dog fight and force them into turnovers.

Plus this is Miami, depth is not going to be a big deal, first team execution will be what makes the difference. Health of the first teamers will make the difference, those teams are doing decent, they are not that much better than everybody else like people keep trying to make it out to be. We just look mediocre because of our lack of offensive execution. You'll see how quick we catch up if we keep playing defense like we have been and if we start scoring points, which i know we will cause the offensive talent will be more physically mature and even rejuvenated if the scheme is right. We'll have better overall athletes on the o-line to as well. Going to be interesting once the new o-line coach comes in and where he places people. Will he see gaynor as a center or guard, will he keep scaife at tackle, what side will donaldson play on, who will be the tackles. The move by many to get rid of the entire offensive staff will definitely give all the offensive guys a chance to be starters, so the competition on offense and for spots just got escalated, whatever games and crying those guys were doing, gotta prove yourself now to the new crew, "NO EXCUSES", you either a balla or you not, gotta show and tell now!
Problem with you argument is that our defense has faced team like Bama. Bama can throw the ball with Tua and punish you with their physical running game and stable of top flight backs. Imagine our dbs trying cover Bama's receivers and then you throw in their TE. Our defense is good, but not good enough to control Bama's offense. Tua would take what the defense gives and pick us apart. Problem with Manny's Defense is that he plays aggressive, which is good, but I would not want to match up one-on-one on the outside with Bama's receivers.

Then on defense Bama goes two-deep and can control the line of scrimmage.

We are not in the same class as Bama

This is where coaching matters. Beating teams of similar or lesser talent.
LSU 33 vs UM 17
LSU 38 vs La Tech 21
LSU 36 vs UGA 16
LSU 40 vs UCF 32

This is where Bama's talent and depth of talent is too great to overcome with coaching alone. LSU had the defensive talent but lacked on O.
LSU 0 vs BAMA 29

I'm sure we could look at UGA and see something similar.

Elite: Bama/Clemson

lots of tier 1 schools that could get lucky and beat Bama/Clemson but aren't likely to do that most nights.
OU, UGA, Mich, OSU, LSU, PSU, TX, UW, WashSt, OR

Miami needs to rejoin the tier 1 schools for multiple years before it can land enough talent to compete with Bama/Clemson any given night.

It doesnt matter, Bama hasnt faced a defense like ours, the only way Bama would pass all over us is if Jahvonte dean was starting, but with #28 & #2, and with jaquan and redwine, no team can get pass happy with those 4, i dont care who it is. People talk as if they are invincible, you gotta understand our 1st line defensive personnel was on par or better than all defenses. I know football, if we were trash, or overrated, i would've said it, but tua would've been on the run against us, that front four we had this year was a problem for any team. Without joe jackson and willis, made a big difference out their against wisconsin. Our 2 main problems, punting and offensive execution, if we had those 2, we'd more than likely beat clemson this year cause that True freshman qb they have is not to good under heavy pressure just yet, pitt was giving fits for a lil while.

We would've punished em, and came at em, which is where manny went wrong last year against clemson, had the defense sitting back!

In a few years, that will be 20 years ago.

Yep. People don’t understand that kids were not alive when Miami last won a championship. It was a lifetime ago. We’ve been garbage most of recent memory. Have to somehow start winning again.

We disagree. You must have not watch Alabama offense. I love our defense, but Bama is another class.
