Lie about what?

If you're looking for the "best conference", I'd like to see more numbers, like record vs ooc opponents.

The Big 10 (5-4) and SEC (6-6) under performed in the bowl games.
No one expected much from the ACC (6-5), or PAC 12 (3-4).
The Big12 was an OK 4-3.
Forget the other conferences.

I have SEC, BIG10, BIG12, ACC and PAC12.
If you call ND a half-member of the ACC, given they played half their games vs ACC teams, then one could argue the ACC/BIG12 flip.

Whatever the case, this bowl season proved that, while some conferences are better than others, the gap between them isn't as wide as most perceive.

Kentucky beating PSU was awesome lol Probably only other team I was rooting for this bowl season

Great season for Stoops and they actually finished it off with an impressive win

Gonna miss Snell and Allen a lot tho I think they both go first round

SEC is overhyped...

This college football season alot of teams were average with a couple of top dog teams..... Bama and Clemson

6 teams in top 16 is impressive as ****

Esp after last season when the conference was pretty bad minus the top 2

Auburn was great but finished with 2 Ls so nobody cares

Obviously it was a down year for the ACC. hUh. And is there a more OVERRATED conference than the Big 10. Thankfully they have mighty Ohio St.

I'm not impressed with rankings as a conference evaluator because the entire concept of strength of schedule + rankings is based on circular reinforcement. Every year the SEC gets handed a high starting position by the poll voters, then media hypes them accordingly. Then when they start losing to each other, voters refuse to drop them much using the argument that they lost to a highly ranked team. Well why were they highly ranked in the first place? Because the poll voters/committee chose to put them there. Meanwhile, when teams in other conferences lose to each other, the argument is they're not very good because they lost to a team that's not ranked highly. It's fraudulent.

When the conferences are actually forced to play each other in bowls, the SEC ended up 6-6 and the ACC 6-5. AND.... the SEC's 2 "great" teams, Alabama and Georgia, when actually tested, got their asses kicked by the ACC and Big 12.

Bowl games are a terrible way to gauge how good a conference is. Way too many variables involved in those games, outside of the final four.

Finally somebody else gets that

5 teams with 10+ plus tamu who bodied nc state tells the story not the fringe teams that barely make a bowl like scar and vandy

It was actually pretty balanced for the first time in years the east was better then the west

And Bama and Georgia both got blown out what a great season

If i thought the bowls were the only way to gauge a conference's strength, i wouldn't have listed them the way I did.
I also mentioned the regular season ooc schedule:

2018 oc records vs P5 opponents:
SEC ........14-9/.608
BIG10 ....12-9/.571
BIG12...... 8-9/.470
PAC12...... 6-7/.462
ACC ..........7-13/.350

The problem with these records, is that you get nothing from a Bama/Louisville game in September. As it turns out, that matchup was between the best and one of the worst in their respective conferences. It is a decent sampling though, so in it's entirety, it has merit.

The same with the bowls.
I agree in part with what you said, but you have to be able to take something away from all of those games.
Your "outside the final four" comment is not just a side note.
Although I consider the SEC the best conference, no one out there thinks they are as good after watching last nights game.
Bama sleepwalked through that conference during the regular season.

Although it's not the most accurate since they play a lot of cupcakes (so do other conferences I guess too).SEC was beat conference by far in out of conference games for the entire season at 81% winning perception 59-13
