I’m out of town and won’t be writing one this week.

A quick synopsis on a re-watch is that we really struggled with stunts, twists, and corner blitzes. Communication on the line has been an issue all year. It was a big problem in this game.

Rosier was as bad as you imagine. We left four plays that have to be made out there that would’ve either been TD’s or put us in scoring range. It wasn’t just accuracy, but also awareness. He also was impatient as the game went along and he wouldn’t take the swing, screens, and outlet passes.

The lack of holding calls is becoming a thing. I counted eleven plays that were holding calls more often than not. Zero were called. A few would’ve impacted the game- including the 4th down bootleg play.

We didn’t deserve to win this game, but if this game is played exactly the way this went, we win 8 of 10. The issue is obviously it was one of the two.

If we wanted to do a Q & A thread, or something along the lines, I’d be available Thursday or so.

Have a great week, just regroup and remember- we are going to the Orange Bowl at worst, in a rebuilding year.

Will miss you analysis, but it’s probably for the best! We all know how ugly yesterday was. I hope your back to do the ACC title game and are breaking down a win.

Not too shabby in year two

The non holdings are out of hand

It is absolutely infuriating that’s for sure. I also saw a blatant hands to the face against RJ Mac on the qb touchdown run before the half

It’s as if it has been decreed that our DL has too much talent and the officials must level the playing field for our opponent

Bummer. Was looking forward to this installment even though we lost. This is as entertaining as watching the games themselves.

The lack of holding calls... it’s bad.

The inability to handle the stunts, twists, and especially db blitzes, is as much on Rosier as anything else in the game. It’s almost as if he was playing as he said he was, complacent, and just going through the motions. I was flabbergasted, over and over again at the simple inability to diagnose a potential edge blitzer and let the ball rip to often wide open wr’s.

Bottom line, as far as the difference in the game, Rosier got himself a big head, did not prepare well, sleep walked through the game, and displayed atrocious leadership and urgency. The D kept us in the game about as well as anyone could realistically ask. Say what you will about the OLine, but there is definite correlation between QB1’s play, attention to detail, intensity, and decision making, and how well the OLine produces. I think it’s reasonable to put at least some of the blame for their lack of production at Malik’s feet, whether that be by getting us in and out of the right plays, adjusting protections, or even simply the intangibles of leadership.

All of that said, I do believe that Malik acknowledges and understands he let his team mates, his coaches, the U that he loves, his fans, and most importantly himself down yesterday. I think he’s got the mental makeup to recover from this rather than go into a shell. I truly believe we will see a fire out of this kid that we have not seen before in Charlotte next week, and from here on out the rest of this season. The season starts now. Can’t wait to watch from my front row seat, Section 134, in Charlotte.

My reaction to the Pitt game was about the same reaction I had when I opened this thread tonight...

Ten rushes from the backs and you think it equates to 8 out of 10? Yeah...losses not wins.

Anything else is Dumboville.

It literally would get laughed out of the room in the circles I've frequented in Las Vegas, but on these fan forums every type of subjective adjuster crap is embraced.

This is my nominee for douche of the year post.

Yes we win 8 of 10 times even playing as ****** as we did if Malik hits just 2 of the 4 wide open TD/scoring position passes he missed badly on.

Just wanted to say thank you. This was very kind of you to say.

Always very humbled that people have thought this way about my writing.

I'm with bear here. While I've followed football since I was a kid, I never played/coached the sport and have very little insight into the "acute details" of how you defend certain situations and/or how you set your offense for success. You've provided both for those like me and I thank you for it!

Yeah that’s why I don’t read this dude’s posts. Always thinks he’s somehow the smartest guy in the room. And from what I can tell he still thinks that football is played like it was in the 80’s

And I’m with bear and HurricaneAce07. If this board could only have three threads and every other thread was to be deleted, your recaps would be number 1.

Enjoy the holidays.
