Florida Medical Advisory Board: "We strongly recommend that the Florida high school fall sports schedule get pushed back to at least late September...."

Florida High School Athletics Association: "Fall 'Ball will begin on August 24th as previously planned..."

now onto the relevant subject at hand:

FHSAA doesnt impact dade, broward, and many large counties in FLA. they still have the power to run on their schedule. its likely that Hillsborough, Orange, Dade, Broward likely wont start on august 24th (def not dade broward and likely not Hillsborough given their preference for virtual only for the four weeks).

Let's just hope they start!

FYI, the people who voted 11-5 to start aren't FHSAA employees. They are principals, ADs, and school board members. The FHSAA only makes recommendations. The people who represent the schools do the actual voting.

They can and will run their own schedule. The argument posed by executive board members from down south, though, is that those counties won't get to participate in the state series in any fall sport. It will basically be a short season of exhibition games.
