Curious to get the board’s take on these choices. The decision to not take 3 before the half to me was a panic move and ultimately changed the flow of the game in GT’s favor.

Typical Mario would have taken the three there, but I think the 10 minute drive and our lack of getting off the field on defense affected his decision making. Seemed to me that he panicked into an atypical decision (regardless of analytics) due to the feeling that possessions were going to be at a premium and we needed 6’s and not 3’s. I have the utmost confidence in Cam too, but normal unaffected Mario trots out Borregales there, puts the three in our pocket, and on we go.

What that played out to look like in the end we all know - more failed 4th downs, points left on the field, and a big ugly L. It’s easy to second guess after the fact as we all know, but I think that was a scared decision - made because our defense can’t make a stop - that caused us to play with unneeded stress the rest of the way.

If you take the points there, later you don’t go for two in desperation, and you kick the FG again and hopefully walk away with an ugly two point victory.

Yes, hindsight of course. We lost because our defense is terrible. But I think Mario panicked and it cost us. I’d love to hear y’all’s thoughts.

Hindsight 20/20 I was ok with them going for the first 4th down.

Tech just ate up 11mins of clock and I sure that played into some of his decisions.

Looking back obviously they made all the wrong coaching calls/decisions yesterday.

If Miami takes the FG and kicks the extra point they win the game.

Tech dominating the time greatly impacted this game.

My issues is more with the playcalling on 4th down. Dawson sucked today and Cam played bad.

Miami should’ve continued to run the ball. I just don’t u darts and why they didn’t run more when tech wasn’t stopping it.

That 11 minute drive was brutal.

I am in complete agreement with you. Besides the defense...I think those decisions contributed most to the losses. I am a proponent of going for the 2 in a situation where you absolutely have no choice. Going for the 4th down try so early in the game was unnecessary. I would have been ok going for it if we were at home.

All hindsight. I have no issue. The worst one was that play action on 4th and 1 when we had them on the ropes by running it. No one had issues against cal and va tech. All situational.

In my opinion, the worse thing to happen to football was “well the analytics…” it’s a double edged sword that works great if you hit but makes you look like a moron at the same time when you miss.

The 11 minute drive should have told him to take the field goal. Not the opposite.

Analytics tell you in that moment to go for it...just defies logic and my common sense. Take the points. Especially in a game that is going to be played in the phone booth or the backyard. Just get the points and move on. Needed the caveman instincts there...which is why Brent Key beats this guy.

Terrible...FT was running the clock as Mas as they could which mean we had to get points EVERY chance we got. How the the **** these coaches don't understand that **** is beyond me!!

It wasn’t good but at the end of the day the flow of the game at that point made it so that Mario felt he needed 6. Our defense was a wet paper bag. That being said we had a 2 minute drill with 2 timeouts to win the game.
