Ferman Suggesting Golden Going to Rutgers?

It would be great to NOT hear: "Are you kidding me, Joe. Joe, I'm not making any excuses. We're Not Where We Want To Be Yet"

My dream scenario. No buyout. Lots of guys could do a great job here. And i don't think a guy like Kaaya with 3 years left is a tough sell.

Can you imagine being able to go after an HC without having to pay a huge buyout? We could pay some serious $$ for a legit coach. Assuming the admin was interested in being a football powerhouse. Which is a terrible assumption.

0% chance this happens

Hopefully D'Ono goes to Buttgers for the HC job and takes Jethro and Paul Williams with him

The title of the thread suggests it's just Ferman saying why he feels Rutgers should go after him.
So is this entire conversation based on the hypothetical or are there sources claiming that Rutgers is legitimately interested in Golden? Because anyone can make the argument that another school should go after Golden (Illinois, UCONN, Purdue), but that doesn't mean it's based on reality.

Unless he's a dense as a petrified stump, he's gotta know his time here is short, and he'll still be lucky to not be fired at the end of THIS season.

His time is running out here. Fast.

No, the title of the thread says no such thing.

I clearly stated, it's on the premium portion - so if you or someone else wants to go there and inform us as to what Ferman is saying, I'm all for it.

Leave a loaded UM team who just took the national champs to the wire for a Rutgers team without a pulse?

C'mon

It is about his future. Three things:

1. He doesn't get 2 or more years here based on these current results (should be fired already but not the point).

2. He may get 3-4 more years at another program like Rutgers with lower expectations. He knows NJ and he may be better suited in the Big 10.

3. He needs to weigh his options and do a cost benefit analysis. If he wants to remain in coaching and start again (i.e. clean slate), he should leave now. If he leaves (i.e. like Muschamp with a buyout) it will be difficult to get another HC gig.

Everybody relax. Ferman just suggesting reasons why he thinks Rutgers will 'open the vault' for Golden in the next 1-2 years. That's it. Nothing to see here.

Correct. I guess it's fun to dream sometimes.

Don't you come in here with logic.

He tried to bolt last year for the Ped State job. He has been verbally attacked this year by angry fans. This can not be a great environment for him and his family. If he is realistic with himself, he has to know that he can't win big here and will eventually get canned.

On the other hand, he can return to NJ as a conquering hero to a program that is not doing very well and buy himself more time at a very high salary. He also can work those NJ recruiting connections and get all of the NJ players Corch Irvin Mayahs doesn't want.

How can that not be the best case for him?

Correct.

Sorry, I'm not a Ferman subscriber and I'm at work so I haven't had a chance to check out the WEZ thread. Really hoping it's true though. This would be the best case scenario. Assuming of course the administration does not mess up the coaching search for the 4th straight time.

It's definitely just a Ferman opinion thread. Here is the title: "Here is why I think Rutgers opens the vault for Al Golden n the next 1-2 yr"
