The initial plan appears more sound to me.

This massive mess was not created by the new AD. Based on more than just our record, Manny Diaz's firing is inevitable. If it were some kind of close call, sure, let the new AD evaluate.

Just like Blake was fired and held accountable, the current Admin - Rudy and Joe acting on Frenk's behalf - should fire Diaz and allow the new AD (assuming it's a legitimate, independent-minded one) start with a cleaner slate.

From there, the new AD can decide on operational aspects like Highsmith as the Director of Football Ops or not.

And, so on and so forth just like Joe would likely do if he had to clean house in one aspect of UHealth.

Highsmith seems to be already a fixture. I think it is a foregone conclusion the new AD would have to accept that Highsmith will already have his assignment before setting foot on campus.

I hear you... just philosophically and what I've seen work time and again is the executive who is held accountable (and I would say AD and HC are both exec level) is given the chance to put into place their own direct reports.

Agree 100%… the AD needs to have the opportunity to hire his guy. Especially if his team is underperforming and his job is on the line. Admin can fire a failed HC prior to selecting an AD tho, right?

Plenty of people know something on this board, especially @Cribby ...but it's gotten to the point, that God forbid we Post something, it gets torn apart immediately....So alot of us have gotten to the point of not saying anything.

As happens with most nice things, there are always a few a holes that ruin it for the rest of us. Hopefully you guys find it in your hearts during the holiday season to continue to post things when you know them but we definitely understand if you don't.

So I just watched Ferman's last show (on YouTube now). I've never actually seen anything of his. He and his partner are complete and utter morons. They said a ton of stupid **** (I'm only 20 minutes in). However, the worst thing was that Mario is the only guy that should be accepted as the coach outside of possibly Kiffin. They said they'd rather keep Manny next year than "settle" for anyone else.

Here's the best part....they used Aranda and Mark Stoops as examples of coaches Miami would potentially settle for. Then, Ferman literally said, "the worst thing that can happen is they can't get Mario, they can't get Lane, and they have to go to the field and end up with a Mark Stoops or Dave Aranda". Then they say, "Is there really that big of a difference between Manny Diaz and Mark Stoops?"

For some reason Ferman seems to have cred with old school canes players. He was there and had access at the canes for life forum, and co-hosts on the Lamar Thomas show that has frequent guests like Darrin Smith, Jesse Armstead, Dan Sileo, etc
That doesn't mean he is not full of it but he still manages to stay relevant for these guys.
