Ferman 'rewrote' his Monday article

- Initial plan was to fire Diaz after Duke without AD in place but now momentum moving towards hiring AD first and then having them make final decision
The initial plan appears more sound to me.

This massive mess was not created by the new AD. Based on more than just our record, Manny Diaz's firing is inevitable. If it were some kind of close call, sure, let the new AD evaluate.

Just like Blake was fired and held accountable, the current Admin - Rudy and Joe acting on Frenk's behalf - should fire Diaz and allow the new AD (assuming it's a legitimate, independent-minded one) start with a cleaner slate.

From there, the new AD can decide on operational aspects like Highsmith as the Director of Football Ops or not.

And, so on and so forth just like Joe would likely do if he had to clean house in one aspect of UHealth.

Sounds like good logic to me. Logic has never been popular on cis though

Retaining Manny Diaz without Lashlee as the OC would be the single, greatest unmitigated disaster that the off season could present.
Can you imagine giving up 30+ points per game AND not being able to score?

Let’s be honest about Lashlee. Really, really good passing game OC. His concepts work, he utilizes all his pass catching weapons and has a great feel for when to go for the big pass. Lashlee is a poor running game OC. he does not use the correct personnel groupings and is frequently outnumbered on running plays. He calls the same running plays regardless of who is the running back.
All that being what it is, the UM offense with Lashlee and TVD will average 30+ points per game as long as they are together because of the passing game.
If he is gone, we are not even a 7-5 team. We are 4-8 At best.

Is it possible that Manny Diaz would do a search for the best OC to replace Lashlee and then pick himself? I wouldn't pay money to watch a Canes game but I would certainly be tempted to watch Diaz try to be the first HC in the modern era of cfb who was also the team's OC and DC.

If so, does that mean Manny is pocketing the money for DC, OC and HC? He may get fired in the end but will have put away a nice little nest egg in the process.

Absolutely. And then a bunch of people would compliment Manny for "betting on himself"...

Manny might be the first head coach ever fired "for ********** good cause".

You have to give Lashlee credit for some play calls.
The fourth down throw to Rooster
The 70 yard pass to B Smith

and he has good route combos. on the TD to Mallory last game he has the receiver run a post to occupy the safety. I can’t say how closely you are watching or re-watching the games but Lashlee flat out understands how to call pass plays. and he is clueless how to design a running game.

Can you imagine manure having to make another coordinator hire. In his time here He has hired baker Rhett and himself. Two of those hires were horrific decision. He’s got a 66% failure rate. So we’re gonna let him hire again?
U forgot enos

👆Several folks won't like this at all, but an organization that is well led by adults would do this

I know, I know, I'm asking for too much of Miami's BoT.
That’s not necessarily true. Coaches and ADs are fired together all the time In cfb. The ONLY reason Epstein wants an AD to decide is to at least delay mannys firing, or better yet, to get a weak AD who he’s able to strong arm into giving manny another year or 5.

I hear you... just philosophically and what I've seen work time and again is the executive who is held accountable (and I would say AD and HC are both exec level) is given the chance to put into place their own direct reports.

Just my bias that I need to tuck back in... hahahah
