Ferman is hinting that Highsmith deal is on the way

Brilliant, he "expects" it. Then when it doesn't happen he'll have some nonsense story about how it was happening, but the deal fell apart.

Still had a hand in the personnel and decision making making, direction of the team this year.

I’m not trying to down AH, I’m just saying this isn’t the home run idea they think it is. And to be clear I think this idea is pure BS and click bait. Tis the season to go shopping for subscribers
 
I have mixed feelings about this. On one hand, any move that takes decision making related to the football program away from James and the rest of that clown show is a good thing. On the other hand, here we go again with the “hire a Miami guy and don’t interview any other candidates” nonsense. Is Highsmith really the best candidate for this position? Does he want to continue to run a pro style offense because “that’s our brand”? Why not conduct a national search?

prolly not many, but Manwell dont have much ground to stand on at this point, dude cant coach worth a ****, if this actually goes down he wont be here past next year, Zo knows coaching when he see's it

Is there another program that has had actual success where a similar relationship exists?

Gotta take everything from him with a grain of salt but he is sort of hinting that it’s highly probable it happens and already in negotiation phase.

I found this story from a few years ago but it doesn’t look like the scope of what we are talking about. I don’t know if it will work either way, but what’s the worst that could happen? We lose to FIU or something?

agree w your post but I like a pro style O, and if you have the horses its near impossible to stop, LSU doing pretty good w it
 
I don’t see how anyone can dislike this move. It effectively takes control of the football program out of the hands of Blake and Strawley, who have both proven to be inept and incompetent overseeing the football program. Highsmith is a football person who will totally change the expectation level in that building. He’s very connected and can get the structure looking right and bring more credibility to the organization, which will help with getting more qualified people to come work there. Manny lacks the connections.

I will also say this. As Manny gets the 2020 season to try to show he can be the HC, if he fails, this move makes it clear that Blake and Jenn will not be hiring the next HC. Alonzo will along with whoever he wants on his committee. That is a huge win. Who do you want hiring the next coach, if it ultimately comes to that?

I had the same Q. Sounds like a colossal cluster f. Less accountability, people blaming each other and an overall AD job that no one would want. All because people don’t want to mov on from james. Wow.

What is being suggested isn't anything like a liaison. This seems completely different and my question still stands.

I am just curious if there are any programs that have had actual success implementing such a relationship.

My gut tells me the same exact thing and this would be the exact type of thing that our BOTs would do.
