Feldman on Diaz - top 5 coach on the rise

Thomas Brown's the only coach on the staff with HC potential, won't be surprised to see Him interview for some jobs next off-season.

Ok, so if Diaz is that good(elite level) given the talent he has to work with this season his unit in 2018 needs to be a monster, one that is championship caliber and dominant on a weekly basis. Third year with his system, for the most part all 'his guys', let see what he can produce

Get us a top 5 defense a couple years running and then we can revisit where he ranks.

A bit premature at this point.
Top 5 is hard enough one year with a bunch of upperclassmen. We have too much turnover for that expectation. I'll take top 20 and be satisfied.

Feldman: 40 coaches on the rise entering the 2018 college...

Bruce Feldman put out his top 40 coaches on the rise list. I was surprised to see Diaz ranked so high:

The last sentence bears attention regardless of how you feel about Diaz and whether he is Richt's best hire or not.
Richt is young and healthy and coached for 15 years under Bowden. He ain't leaving here until he's forced out or fired.

Also, Diaz is born and raised in Miami and has already done a career world tour so to speak. Wouldn't surprise me if he stuck around as well. This has to be the best destination of all time for his family.

Year 3 will tell a lot, especially with Kuligowski gone. I'm really curious what the consensus is right now. It seemed everyone was ecstatic with Diaz after the first season, but last year there was a lot of frustration in the game threads despite all the turnovers.

His D always regresses year two. But to his credit he changed the d for this year. We'll see.

Orgeron had been coaching 20 years and was a assistant hc before getting his first job.
He still never called plays but I agree that it's unlikely a glorified RB coach will suddenly get HC offers. That's not a knock, he's a great RB coach.
