Who exactly? Feeley isn’t one to share any Hurricane state secrets, but he offered up a list of the guys who were weight room freaks in his eyes this summer.
“I don’t want to single one guy out, but I mean, (defensive tackles) Jordan Miller, Pat Bethel, those guys are pretty strong,”
“(Receiver) KJ Osborn is incredibly strong for his position. He set a (school) record in the squat, broke a record in the bench, he’s on point. (Defensive end Jon) Garvin is a pretty strong cat as well. (Left guard) Navaughn Donaldson’s a pretty strong guy. (Right guard) DJ Scaife, he does a fine job as well. A guy like DJ is only going to be going up and up and up as time goes on. And (linebacker) Shaq Quarterman, he’s a pretty stout dude, now.”
In terms of speed, nobody runs faster more consistently than sophomore receiver Dee Wiggins, Feeley said. “He was the one running 23 miles per hour in the summertime,” Feeley said. “He’s got real light speed.”
On the 3 QBs:
All three of those guys … they were working their butts off — they really were,” “Every single guy in that quarterback room would run extra with guys at the end of every run. So, like the linebackers, tight ends, they would all run with them and then jump into the skill group sprints.
“They all did it to show them that at any point in the year someone asks, ‘Well, did this guy go the extra mile for me?’ The answer is yes.”
Feeley said Williams, though, has “a really good head on his shoulders.”
“He’s a guy that comes in, wants to have a plan, wants to have structure, wants to talk about maybe altering the plan. ‘Hey, coach, how do we do this, this and this? I want to get better, whatever,’” Feeley said. “He’s done that a few times.”
