FAU

The unofficial final score was Miami 7 FAU 5. It was a 12 inning game with five batters per inning regardless of the outcome.

The (very predictable) starting lineup:
Lala LF
Vilar 2B
Zamora SS
Del Castillo C
Gil 3B
Toral 1B
Jenkins CF
Gates DH#1
Rivera RF
Paige DH#2

-Each pitcher threw three innings in the following order: Van Belle, McMahon,Cecconi, and Keysor
-Van Belle was solid but still susceptible to the long ball. He gave up a pair to the FAU four hole hitter
-McMahon was very hittable today which combined with defensive issues led to a rough 4th and 5th
-Defensive miscues: Lala booted a ball in LF, Toral misplayed a hard hit ball at first, and Jared Thomas threw an attempt to catch a base stealer into CF
-Slade picked up where he left off in the regional final. He retired 13 of the 15 batters he faced, giving up just a single and walk in his final inning. Offspeed pitches continue to be his (relative) weakness, but the kid just has special stuff overall.
-Keysor was solid. A few too many walks for my liking, but it was a good outing.
-Lala did Lala things reaching in all three plate appearances. Unfortunately, Vilar struggled behind him.
-Del Castillo was to nobody’s surprise our best hitter going 2 for 3 with a triple.
-Tyler Paige(!) tied it up with a clutch final AB of the inning three run homer. Quinones drove in the go ahead run.
-Gabe Rivera opened the scoring with a solo homer in the 2nd.
-The only freshman position player that really stood out was Jared Thomas. Even that was more of the “I can see talent” than “wow what great play” variety.

Should add that Lauck has a “lower extremity” injury and is out for the rest of the fall at the very least
