FAU coach's comment on our team

And, we showed a ton more looks in last year's struggle than we did this year.

Maybe we are better showing less looks. The more looks you use the more thinking you have to do out there.

What I meant is we showed less of our playbook. So far through 2, we apparently look better to FAU's coach while remaining vanilla.

Depending how Saturday goes, and considering the next game is GT, we could go into FSU not showing much on D at all.

And besides, the proverbial "we're saving our playbook" excuse has been used before. I have no doubt we've only scratched the surface on # of plays but in reality, I'm guessing we will only use a part of our offensive playbook this season.

It's hard to pile more food on the plate if you haven't finished your supper.

How can you have pudding when you don't eat your meat?

I know exactly what you meant. My point remains the same. Perhaps, part of the reason that we look so good is because we're not going too deep into the playbook and confusing our own players.

Got it. Point well taken. I don't think we've looked so good on offense to this point, though. At least not relative to how I expect us to look starting at GaTech.

For people saying the "we haven't shown our cards" yet is the yearly excuse, it's really the case here in that they are simply not running plays and formations we've already seen them run in practice. I mean, we're not suddenly going to move to Warren Moon's run and shoot, but some of the stuff should be helpful against the fronts Kaaya is facing.

I think the offense should be able to expand the playbook quite a bit because we have such a solid veteran QB. I'd love to see us get a little more diverse offensively so defenses don't just start teeing off on us.

I'm not so sure I want our defense bogged down in too much thought. I just want them playing as fast and violent as possible. Maybe a new blitz here or there, but not too much changing of coverages.

The score wasn't much different than last year. But I still believe we played much better vs FAU than last year.

We had to rely on FAU randomly fumbling the ball 10,000 times to rout them last year.
