Wouldn't it be nice if a highly qualified AD were totally objective and didn't have to kow-tow (or even meet for lunch) any BOT donors regarding athletic leadership positions at the U? Wouldn't it be nice if h"U"ge profits from UM Health fully funded ALL athletic expenditures and there was plenty of moola to do it right?

It's been two decades of incompetence since Butch waltzed out of town in early 2001.

I don't care what it takes at this point. Out with the old and in with a new that will get Miami back on track—as NOTHING has worked the past 20 years.

Someone wants to write fat checks to change the game, bring 'em on.

If not, you'll have Rod Carey as head coach in 2022 with Jenn Strawley as Miami's next progressive athletic director.

Slurp away. Suck off the fat cats. Couldn't care less. Just bring me a Jurich / Highsmith and Cristobal like change to this program and get "The U" back on track. Enough, already.
 
I agree somewhat. I do believe you need an AD that is very good and has autonomy at hiring and structuring a strong football organization top to bottom. Wealthy boosters should donate, but not attempt to tell the school President and AD what to do. Just because you are rich doesn't mean you know what's best for a program. See Dolphins, U of Texas and USCw. Give the program the money it needs to pay high caliber personnel to run things.

No. Not at all. I’d much rather the university continue to invest as much Uhealth money as possible back into Uhealth… assuming football gets what it needs. Let the rich dudes pay for football. As much as possible anyway

This is so dumb. You can’t count on a different department of the University to continually the athletic department, especially not on a long-term basis.

Who do you think greases the wheels at places like Alabama, Georgia, LSU, and other big time programs?

It’s the fūcking fat cats. Their money rules in big-time college football everywhere.

We can’t count on temporary, volatile, year to year possible profits, especially from the medical side.

The optics are horrific, just wait until the first article comes through about how medical profits are NOT being put back in research, or to lower patient costs, or to fund patient assistance programs, or for infrastructure upgrades to benefit the health and welfare of the patients.

So fūcking dumb. The big money fat cat run things.

Get a clue.

They don’t need to make day-to-day, or operational, or other decisions regarding firing and hiring necessarily.

But they need to be involved, and they at least need to feel like they have input. Some of you people just don’t think things through.
