Fantasy thread but IF Diaz was fired...

How in God's name do you not pick Mike Leach from that list. He is exactly what this program needs right now. He would come at a reasonable price. Washington st. Is about done with him, so they would work with us on the buyout. He would wear out his welcome here but at least he would put us back on the map IMMEDIATELY!

He would take this job in a heartbeat. Our offensive struggles would be gone the minute he took the job.

Bring this disgruntled man in. College football would shi# a brick if he was our HC.
Remember, Craig James Killed 5 Hookers.

AD: Danny White (UCF)

HC: Mike Norvell

OL/run game coordinator: Ryan Silverfield (Norvell brings him from Memphis. Was Broyles candidate last year)

OC/QB: Brandon Streeter (Clemson). Only their QB coach but has been awesome recruiting and coaching and even has some great years calling plays at Richmond. He and Norvell together would be fire. Another one would be Sean Gleeson at Oklahoma State.

TE: Jeffrey Faris (Duke. Smart up and coming tight end coach. Like 30 but already has 3 years coaching wr and 2 as TE coach. Also been their recruiting coordinator)

WR: Either Steve Spurrier Jr or Dave Nicol (Washington state. One is outside and the other is inside wr coach. Yes Leech has 2 wr coaches). Either of these guys, with their experience in that passing attack and their productivity would be great.

RB: Seider (PSU). Go all out for him and see if he wants to be assistant OC (even though we know Norvell and Streeter are running that :) )

DL: Charlie Partridge (Pitt. Guy recruits SFL very well, was FAU's old HC, and a great dline coach)

linebackers: Mike Siravo (Baylor lb coach. Great recruiter and has been very good at Baylor, Temple (linebacker coach of year by football scoop three years ago), and Boston College).

special teams: Pete Lembo (Norvell brings from Memphis. Been an excellent special teams coach at Memphis and also at Maryland. Also has solid HC experience).

cbs: Vance Bedford (USF)
DC/S: Ryan Walters (Missouri. This guy in three years is like the Graham Harrell of DCs. A young up and coming guy that took a defense that was mediocre and in his two years as the full time guy these are their jumps:

scoring defense:
2017: 97
2018: 50 (became full time guy)
2019: 14

total defense:
2017: 82
2018: 62 (became full time guy)
2019: 7

rushing defense:
2017: 58
2018: 22 (became full time guy. Was secondary guy before that)
2019: 26

21st in passes intercepted this year,
6th in passing yards allowed this year

That staff wins 10 games next year and I don't think it is too crazy a possibility financially based on where they currently coach, etc.

Butch for AD
Fleck for coach. How he has Minnesota undefeated when nobody wants to play there let alone live. How did Prince and Kirby Puckett end up there?

Minnesota is having a similar season as we did a few years ago. Winning a lot of close games against weak opponents. They will end up with four losses but the time the season is done. Not saying he is a bad coach but not sure beating Nebraska, Illinois, and Rutgers means you are a good coach either.

This admin just paid $4M to get Diaz back. $3M for his salary and another $3M for staff. Would have a what, $10-15M buyout for him. Have to buyout ANOTHER contract to hire ANYONE on that list; call that another $2-5M. New coach salary $4M, coaching staff another $3-4M. Total cost for a one year experiment - $30ish Million.

NOT. HAPPENING.

As fans we need to accept that while not completely impossible, it is highly unlikely we would put that kind of money out for a new coach after one year.

Any current HC will bring in their own crew. So picking HC would mean taking in most of their current staff...

I live in MN and see all the gopher games. Fleck would not be my choice they needed miracle comebacks vs S Dakota st, Fresno, and Georgia southern or state. Might get bad once they play real teams but we’ll see.

My pipe dream is Meyer he’s the goods as a coach

Stop. You can forget fantasizing about coaches until the entire athletic department has been issued a bus ticket to the unemployment office.

If we think our past coaches have hard times finding jobs, raise your hand if you think any of these turds would be able to find work at another D1 P5 University at the same level position they are at now within 5 years...

Build a legitimate athletic department first, then we can worry about coaching. Until then, all you're doing is...

Gotta agree with this sentiment. No quality coach comes here until we revamp our administration. We have to find an Athletic Director who has connections with coaches and connections with the NCAA to keep them off our backs.

after this season. If you were AD who would you choose? Here are a few names that I think would realistically entertain our offer.
PJ Fleck- Minn. (my choice last Dec)
Sonny Dykes- SMU
Mike Novell- Memphis
Matt Rhule- Baylor
Mike Leach- Wash. St.
Matt Campbell- ISU
Luke Fickell- Cincinnati
I would take Fleck but I think he is a Midwest guy. Waiting for a better Big 10 job. I think Luke Fickell would be a home run.

Bill Clark. I hate to break it to everybody but we won’t pay a coach enough to be “one right hire away,” from contending. Clark is a bonafide program builder. He is what we need to bring us back to relevancy and make this a desirable job again
I think we can afford him.
