FAMU pauses football

I’ll tell u why I’m worked up b/c those two situations r not mutually exclusive:

U’re not Black, & this is no offense to u, but sometimes ppl who r not in a certain demographic can’t really relate or understand:

1. HBCU’s were created to give young African Americans an opportunity for a higher education since primarily Caucasian Institutions, particularly in The South, were against inclusion

2. To see a young African American blow his scholarship while desecrating the image of said HBCU for clout is disappointing & stupid

3. I’m sick of “rap” music that’s published by, particularly newer artist be it mainstream or “up & coming” to promote lyrics featuring genocide, drugs, and disrespect of women of our own ppl. It’s even more disheartening to hear it from a young man given the opportunity to better his life & break a stigma; yet, he chooses to promote this stigma while highlighting an academic institution created to break said stigma.

4. Furthermore, he ain’t bout that life, chief. He’s on camera snitching to the cops, he’s a ball player (not to say some ball players ain’t bout that body life), and he’s a college student. STFU already about all this rah-rah.

So yeah, as a Black man who really, REALLY was about that life, almost losing his life to this ****, having a come to Jesus moment by working DILIGENTLY to reverse my errors, working my *** off to clean up my record & get an opportunity of an education, using that to set the example to my younger cousins who all went on to achieve great success attending some of the finest schools in America, I get a lil triggered by seeing Tom Foolery like this.

I get a lil triggered seeing & hearing all of the garbage music that’s specifically aimed to destroy my community (ask @Brooklyndee bout it); but, I’m ESPECIALLY triggered to see a kid do this WHILE utilizing an institution designed to help eradicate another type of injustice that’s plagued my community well b4 any of us were born, the injustice of lack of education.

So LSU, UGA, whatever can do the chit they do which is wrong in its own way, but that has chit to do w/ what this young man did. Unless u’re apart of the community, u won’t truly understand or get it b/c it’s much deeper than just some goofy kid looking for clout w/ some horrible lyrics. It’s the complete context of those lyrics & what/where it was used to promote such lyrics.
Man, it’s nice to hear that viewpoint. Both you and Brooklyn have voiced great perspectives on topics like this, and in a world where few of us can agree on much I can’t imagine anyone disagreeing with this level of thoughtful perspective.
