Official Fall PractiSe 1: Tuesday, August 4th

There's going to be a rotation here. Wilson will play. The others have something to prove. Whomever makes plays is going to determine the reps. Like I said I'll take Pickett from what I've seen as our best pure pass rusher not names Wilson. Pull the tape. He made guys look silly a few times last year. AR82 saying that as well.
I think it goes unnoticed on here but he played meaningful snaps in the playoffs last year. It was always a surprise for me to see 33 out there but he got snaps during the playoff run forsure
Correct. This team is so loaded, we've got guys who are a few plays away from claiming starting roles at any time. I feel like he's so overlooked. Even if he's just on the 3rd down package, he can play a lot.

Well then Mueller and Briggs 4 sure better be ready
Hey with the 2022 eligibility decision, let’s bring back Bauman

As someone who can’t ice-skate to save my life, hockey always seemed like the hardest sport to master.
If you can skate, and I mean at an elite level and be an elite hockey player, you can transition to anything.

One of my best buds had a cup of coffee with the Bears as a d tackle. Has a 13 year old son who’s a big kid, is a legit AAA hockey player, and decided to give a season of tackle football a shot after never playing. Kid was at another level given the footwork, core strength, and leverage from playing hockey. My son gave it a shot as well with the same story, just smaller, and ended up leading a pretty competitive league in touchdowns as a running back. I was pretty shocked but realized all the edge work he’s put in with skating in hockey and vision translated to fluid cutting along with the strength I mentioned above.

Rooting for this kid to get a shot. Pretty relentless worker with his hands as well. No reason he can’t succeed here.

from what you've seen? he barely played last year.
False. He was in some during our run. I'm not saying he's better than any of our other guys, but to say he's not in the mix for meaningful reps is just false. Wilson is our only proven star pass rusher. Lightfoot has something to prove also. It's not a forgone conclusion he's going to end up being that 2nd guy. I think he's probably the favorite but there's talented guys right there too. Lightfoot is going to have to prove it.

I am a huge Thornton fan but that’s a hilarious caption for a guy doing a ten yard slow backpedal
Back in my playing days, that was my signature move. I can still execute it flawlessly to this day, albeit a little slower.

The core strength and balance really helps. Your body’s muscle memory when it comes to balance is crazy.

We are deeper at WR anyway.. 5 wide with Mali at RB.. Dawson mentioned that yesterday and it made me dream of when he was OC with Tavon Austin at WVU. I mentioned it in summer also..

Let me dream dammit

- Mali in the backfield next to Mensah
- Vaughn or Moore into the boundary on the line
- Jacobs
- Barkate
- Moore or Upshaw

What does the defense do?

You'll create minimum three 1 on 1 matchups. Lowest probability for us is likely out wide, but unless that DB is elite (like Moore from ND), he'll have to play softer.

I don't know. This seems like common sense for a sped up attack for a spurt EACH game. I guess someone could attempt to convince me otherwise.
Dawson said yesterday he can walk empty onto the field and let the defense respond and sub only to put Baby Jesus in the backfield. It's happening

During our run? I don’t think he logged a single snap during the CFP. If you’re referring to VT and Pitt, I don’t recall a snap then either but someone who has access to 247 can confirm. Not debating that lightfoot doesn’t have something to prove - he does, but comparing him and Pickett is not comparable imo

Pretty sure I saw him. Irregardless the pass rush skills flashed not just for me. D$ and AR82 definitely were saying he's competing for reps. One of our roung pass rushers is going to step up and fill a void. People thinking it's just the guys who played the most last year are going to be surprised.

Good athletes succeed in a sport where athleticism is at a premium. More news at 11.

When he went into his bag and started motioning Toney last season the offense was noticeably different. Allows the qb to often determine zone or man and as you just said, defense comes out for empty and now they have to deal with a weapon in the backfield. Hope to see more creativity this season.

He played one snap against Ohio State. I remembered seeing him too.

I was super high on him coming out of high school so I’m with you

With Lofton, Briggs, Mueller and our deep WR room, not the end of the world
Obviously, but Briggs is on the smaller side, Lofton needs to demonstrate health and Mueller is completely unknown. Having to play freshman at TE is difficult, because that position needs time to grow into as you go through the seasons.

Love me 10 personnel as much as anyone else, but you can't live in it sustainably. Unless Mario watched the NFL last year and decides to use jumbo sets.
Briggs weighs the same as lofton
