Fall Camp Developments that would boost your confidence...

We have major concerns on talent and depth at DT. DE is **** good, but I think we will miss Major 9 from the aspect that while he wasnt an elite pass rusher he set the edge so **** well for our defense.
No we don’t
Gerald willis
Patrick bethel
Jon ford
Nesta Silvera
Tito odengibo
As a top 5 depth is good period
Our defense is predicated on pressure so regardless who is in there they will put up numbers. If you need more reassurence check what @UKnoWhat shaqs dad said about the dline last week.

We could have just as easily lost 3-4 as won 11 last year. We won despite having stretches where our QB didn't even look Div 1 worthy.
And we could have easily won 12 despite no kicker missing a single field goal and no holding calls between FSU and Clemson.

I think Tito the transfer from Illinois can be serviceable at DT. That would go a long way in solidifying our front 7. Also, I think Nkosi gets time this year and flashes potential.

1. The OL gelling

2. Rosier becoming more accurate or Jarren practicing out of his mind.

3. Ford playing how he looks.

4. Clear-cut #2 CB.

5. Coaching in general. Are all of the OL versed in what a good offensive linemen is supposed to do, are the receivers going to make the tough catches, are our LBs taking the correct angles, is tackling better all-around.

I compare our depth at DT to the Dolphins after losing Suh. There's talent there but no one has an idea of how they'll play when the lights come on so its perceived as a weakness.

From the looks of it, Tito is an atheltic dt who has good get. It think will serviceable this year in the rotation

Stop, there's a difference between projection and what's been proved. Outside of Bethel no one else has proven they can be a regular contributor. Doesn't mean they can't be good, but no one knows until the season starts what they will be provide.

Rosier can hit the broad side of a barn.
Donaldson gets comfortable at rt or we find a better option and he goes back to rg
As stated before, Rosier can hit the broad side of a barn.

Yes, he can - BUT - only while being locked inside - and that doesn't exactly make my willy tingle.

It’s college football and DT is one of the most developmental positions. Lots of teams don’t have proven, experienced players at the position, and almost none of them have guys as talented as us.

I get what you’re saying, but we do have a 5* Rs. Senior anchoring that position who the coaches claim is unblockable. Sometimes we just have to trust the coachs’ evaluation and development.

To me, it would be the development of Irvin as a blocker. We couldn’t run in short yardage situations last year. An able-bodied TE would help in this department, and I simply can’t count on true Fr to help out there. That leaves Irvin by default.
Very underrated post. I’ve suggested tempering our expectations on them before, as TE tends to be a slow(er) developing position.

Keep Richards in bubble wrap!

But I would love to see Rosier take some sort of step forward. If not then I would like to see a clear cut QB #2.

Completely agree on trusting coaching evals. But w/Willis it really needs to be seen due to everything in the past. Completely DISAGREE on you saying lots of teams don't have proven DT talent. Look at the top 5 teams in the country heading into the 2018 season (and yes, that's who we should be compared against).

O line showing they can dominate.

Special Teams proving they can be competant

Defense showing they can cover the middle of the field

Rosier showing he can be serviceable with decent time in the pocket from an improved line.

Fix all those and we have a shot at the ACC

I don’t understand how people don’t get that this team will be better THIS YEAR with Malik than it would with Jarren running the show. Everyone agrees that Jarren will be better but this not gone be the year. I’m not a huge Malik fan but give me a guy that knows the offense well enough to put us in position to win.

There’s only 5 top 5 teams, which is why I compared us to most teams rather than those 5.

Clearly, our guys have much to prove before anyone thinks we belong in that group.

I get what you're saying, I guess I'm just looking at this differently. We're at the point where we compete against the teams challenging for the cfb playoff. And again, I'm not saying our DTs won't be good, but yes, they are a big question mark.
