in our team heading into the 2018 season.

I think this season is critical. We have to show recruits that last year wasn't an aberration. Beating FSU, LSU, and competing for another ACC championship would go a long way in cementing our status as an annual contender and would help us carry momentum into the offseason recruiting period. With that in mind, here are three potential developments that would boost my confidence in this year's team:

(1) Ford emerges as the #2 DT

- If Ford can beat out Bethel, it would prove that we have at least 3 competent DT's. Moreover, I think Ford has a higher ceiling than Bethel and is a much better complement to Willis. Bethel and Willis are upfield disrupters, while Ford could free up our linebackers and take attention away from Willis and the other DL by providing the invaluable duty of taking on two blockers. It would also be a boon to our run-D imo.

(2) A clear QB2 emerges

- Whether it's Perry, Weldon, or Jarren, I want one of the backups to play so well in camp that Richt is basically starting Rosier because of experience and the 10-win season he orchestrated last year, rather than his superior camp performance. This would, at the very least, set us up well for the future. Moreover, if Rosier struggles or gets injured, we can be confident in our backup.

(3) One of our Tackles beats out Donaldson for the RT job

- Probably the least likely of the 3 to happen, this would kick Donaldson back to guard, where I think his skill set is better utilized. Moreover, if Herbert, Brown, or Hillery step up at RT, this would leave Gauthier, Gaynor, Boulware, and the two freshman to fight for the last two spots on the line.

What do you all got?

The OL play has to be on point.

If that comes together. There is no excuse for lack of conversions, QB with happy feet or no run game.

Not sure if it has been mentioned yet, the O-line and Rosier both improving. During the season, our defense not making most opposing QB's look like all Americans.

* Brevin and Mallory ready to take on LSU's front 7.
* Cager reaching his full potential and locking down that #2 spot.
* Donaldson locking down RT. Yes i think he's a better guard but we have a ton of great G's on the roster and no T's.
* Frierson taking that #2 CB job allowing Bandy to play the nickel.
* Rosier being a general with accuracy.

Every Rosier incompletion is going to be blown out of proportion here, so I’d try not to sweat that and just trust the coaches to make the proper evaluation and decision.
My comment was a bit tongue in cheek. I agree with you honestly. My main concern is honestly Oline play. Id love to hear good news in that department once camp starts.

OL

I don't give 2 craps which kids are stepping up where. I don't play the favorites and hype game. It's OL each day every day until we finally get that sorted out.

The best case scenario is that no one emerges as the clear cut #2 qb, that way as long as Malik stays healthy an we're winning, the real qb competition will began after rosier graduates. If a clear cut #2 starter is named now, somebody might transfer, which is still a good sign that the competition has been elevated, but if we dont take a qb this cycle and somebody transfers, we'll have ground to make up.

I hope donaldson dont end up like nick linder, in my opinion linder was an all conference type of guard, whenever he was in the game at guard, or running game took off, for some reason he got moved to center was trash and the rest is history. I know donaldson for some reason wants to play tackle, well he's got his wish now, he might want to start doing latter drills with the db's and runningbacks to get his footwork right.

To me, it would be the development of Irvin as a blocker. We couldn’t run in short yardage situations last year. An able-bodied TE would help in this department, and I simply can’t count on true Fr to help out there. That leaves Irvin by default.

Bethel and Willis are upfield disrupters, while Ford could free up our linebackers and take attention away from Willis and the other DL by providing the invaluable duty of taking on two blockers. It would also be a boon to our run-D imo.

This is one part scheme, one part player....it can be done with any combination of DT's.

Rosier can hit the broad side of a barn.
Donaldson gets comfortable at rt or we find a better option and he goes back to rg
As stated before, Rosier can hit the broad side of a barn.

Dnot know why people t think that a true freshman fresh out of high school can come in and play like a two year vet.don't get me wrong they are talented i just hope some of you give them a chance to grow up before you throw them under the bus e if they don't perform the way you expect them to.as for me I'm just going to sit back drink my beam and watch it grow up.
