QUICK NOTES FROM SCRIMMAGE:

- Multiple arms took a step up, namely Lazaro Collera. Lachi sat consistently in 95-97 range and the ball exploded out of his hand. Looks like the staff have made mechanical changes especially with his setup --- Gets into his legs more.

- Another explosive arm was DeRias, although he struggled more with command. 95 consistently.

-Milano continues to have that "It" factor, aggressive and confident swings in the box

- Seven guys were picked off, and most of them weren't close. Has to be cleaned up

- Copeland & Sosa oppo homers, both quality swings

- I continue to love Ryan Bilka, wicked offspeeds with 95 definitely plays. I also love how his misses arent over the plate, really works around the zone.

- A couple other standout freshmen, Donovan Jeffery and Dylan Dubovik. Both had nice oppo barrels for extra bases

- There is legit depth across the board, will make for some interesting position battles and cut watches.

- The rotation continues to be murky, multiple guys who can move into the pen and vice versa. Good problem to have at this stage
Mostly encouraging, but how is it possible to be picked off 7 times?! Baserunners being told to be ultra aggressive to see how our pitchers react?

I did this almost every fall. No base coaches in most scrimmages. I didn’t care about 3 run home runs and stuff like that. Green light to almost everyone on 1st. Anytime you had a chance to go two, 1st to 3rd, etc go for it if you read it off the bat right. If you hit a ball well as a righty into right center you should be taking big turns at first with the mindset of 2.

By the end of fall you could see the teams were running bases better but you even saw general baseball iq forming. “Left hander with an average arm in left, if I hit to the line I’m getting two”

Then you always have the one blazer who still sucks no matter what and you wish his wheels were on the kid with cement shoes but runs smart.
