Yes, I think Wingo is our best WR prospect. His combination of size, speed, quickness, physicality, is the best since Mario has been here.

@twes.305 It sounds like you generally accept 2025 and 2026 WR classes to be good, so why bother arguing over a problem that has been fixed? I think we’d all agree with you that Jojo, Ny and Chance have underperformed expectations. But at the time everyone loved their takes and the only real issue was they weren’t Jeremiah Smith.
So three years of bringing in the right profiles plus going and getting quality from the Portal this past cycle. Seems like problem solved, no?

Whether we liked those tapes or not doesn’t matter. That 2024 class was terrible. I went back and watch those tapes, bc I was tryna figure out why we were missing on our WRs so much. I came back severely unimpressed.
I would say no, it’s better still not where it needs to be. Still don’t have anyone that can take the top off the defense. When ND changed the way they played our WRs, u saw a difference. They essentially got taking out the game, one of the main reasons they closed the gap. Last but not least, we won’t know until they actually start producing. I hope they do, as of rn Toney is the only one that has produced significantly.

when they played early this year in october, EJ had 20 carries, 336 yards, 2 TDs + 20 receiving yards
Had 2 separate people at the game say he was the best high school player they had ever seen

i watched him one time as a freshman when i was up in AL to visit some family. i wanted to go see Kevin Riley but my brother told me this kid was the real show to go see and ho lee ****.
i woulda traded Kevin Riley for him then & there. Alvin Henderson was the other back putting up video game #s but Crowell > boffum.

So do you pay attention to who we just signed this past year. Do you watch film. We have 3 freshman WRs playing heavy snaps and one is an freshman all American with the othe 2 flashing huge ability. Now for 2026 we have Wingo one of the best senior films in the nation, Paris who's 6-5 freakshow speed, then Spafford who's probably fastest WR in nation
It took Mario 6 classes to recruit a WR that can come in and be a major contributor as a freshman. “Flashing huge ability”
, flashing don’t mean shii. 2 of the freshman WRs have so much more development left until they become a real threat to opposing teams. 2026 class looks good but they aren’t on campus. Spafford is not the fastest WR in the nation. There’s a reason why the passing game went to Shii in the 2nd half vs ND. They had there best CB follow Toney everywhere, and nobody else could create space. It’s probably because Mario sucked at WR recruiting for 5 years prior.
So, if 2 out of 7 WR classes were good that makes his WR recruiting good. Tell me how that math works?
