Expectations

I don't buy this one bit. You talk as if we've never had to compete going into a head wind. News flash, we've always had to … even in the 70's. We got good regardless.

Our problems are self inflicted. We shoot ourselves in the foot and have an administration that comfortable cashing the ACC check and doesn't want to be outshone by the football program.
I am talking about the way the game is officiated nowadays, along with the pussification of the sport in general....our old school teams would have had players ejected left & right because of the style of play we had, not to mention our off the field antics.. Thus, THE Miami that we all grew up loving, will NEVER be back.

I still don't buy it. The rule changes affected all teams. I don't think crazy *** hits leading with the helmet is what people have in mind when they talk about the Canes being back. Even the classic Vanover hit was clean by today's standards. By being back, most think of the Canes playing fast, mentally tough, intimidatingly relentless, and winning … a lot.

When you look at the formula we used, we basically transformed the sport at this level. Then the game was changed when scholly numbers were reduced. However, those with the big bucks were able to move forward with the support of the major networks along with the NCAA. I do not think anyone can disagree with that, unless you have living in a cave for the last 20 years. We did not help our selves when we rode the Coker train straight off a cliff and then dug ourselves a canyon at the bottom of the cliff with the hiring of Shannon, Golden, etc. I say we will not be the same Miami ever again, and I will stick by it. Unless we become some crazy cash cow for the NCAA, you might as well forget about it.

This does not mean we wont ever be at the top again, it just means that there are programs out there that can get away with doing what we used to do, and honestly it has everything to do with the amount of money they bring in and we are going to have to find another way. Manny is actually doing this right now, he is climbing this hill that our previous four coaches could not surmount. Our fan base wants wins, and we want them now, Manny has found a way to do that, even with limited talent at several positions. He found a way to fix the biggest problems and move forward. If he continues to do this, he will also find a way to conquer the ACC, which is, and should be, the next step. Then, and only then, he may find a way to put into title contention. So thank GOD he is not focusing on what our fan base thinks is right for this program.

Have no doubt that it is almost certainly still us against the world, because college football does not want a team like Miami to be on top again. They are afraid of us. Our brand is still very much alive, and that was prevalent in the little bit of spotlight we received early in the season. There are things that we will never be able to do again, but there is one thing that can never be taken away, THE U!!!

Most of these guys grew up loving the ‘01 squad. Supremely talented but not exactly the same brand of lunacy.. they have no idea what it was like to watch those teams.

I like many on here am a millennial
And as a millennial, patience is not a virtue
Blame it on growing up in an age of instant gratification and instant everything

having said that
If you objectively look at our roster make up and coaching staff
5-1 is about where we should be

the main difference between this year and last us that our kicker won’t cost us multiple games and king actually runs alway from sacks instead of just standing there like jarren , these two factors alone give us 3 or so more wins

It’s Impossible to go from 6-7 to championship contender unless u had a loaded roster like zooleft urban
We have a roster of a team that should win around 9-10 wins a year, beat the teams we are supposed to beat, lose to teams we’re supposed to lose to, and battle against equal talent

my fear is the next two years
If many can string together 2-3 years of double digit wins, I think he can build up his roster that can be top 5 caliber but right now we just don’t have the roster to expect domination week in and week out

we also need to hope for a program changin qb
King was a good stop gap but we need to hope TVd can lead us to multiple double digit win seasons

We need to hope our BEST QB ( whoever that is ) can lead us to double digit wins

I really hate to see our fans trying to pick our QB again...remember how that turned out?

The fan favorite then only hit the field after he changed positions ....and is no longer on the roster

I trust our coaches to select who's best to operate our offense.....because the simple fact is they see them a lot more than the fans ever will.

So is Manny going to win a title here? Time to go on record .

Even though you are 100% a poorly disguised troll, I'll indulge your request.

The answer is I don't have any idea. He may crash and burn and lose every game down the stretch or win out. I have no clue.

But I don't think the answer on winning it all changes with any coach in America outside of one or two, and even those are maybes. Right now there are three or four programs that can win it all every year. With another 3-4 that have a chance if they nail the QB position.

What I do see in this program is:

A 5-1 record after a catastrophic end to last season.
An offense that was in shambles, ranked in the 100s last year, completely revamped with nearly all new coaching parts playing far better.
A 2020 recruiting class that is already pushing out upperclassmen out at RB, WR and LB.
A fantastic 2021 recruiting class that has two, potentially three 5 star players for the first time ever.
A coach that has filled in massive holes all over the field with superior players through the portal.

I can give two ***** about slip and slides and all the other bull**** you and your mope squad ramble on about 24/7 all day about. What I care about is building a foundation that lasts. And the things going on above are what do that.

I will ask you in turn, who in their second or even third year, RIGHT NOW, is doing better?

Who is this "real coach" you keep talking about?

Name him.

Who is YOUR guy that's done more than Many has after last year's debacle?

We were all pretty confident after 10 games we had a 8-9 win team. We had just pulled out a comeback win vs Pitt and handled Louisville & FSU convincingly. Only FIU & Duke were left on schedule. 8 wins, easy....

We won 6. Bottom line - we still don't know what this team is yet, but I'm happy to be 5-1.

What I'm looking for is - beat the teams you should, like GT & Wake (although Wake might be a trap game).

NC St. , VT, UNC - I get if we lose to any of those 3, but we can't go 0-3 . 1-2 isn't great, but I don't think it's a failure. 2-1 I'm happy with, and 3-0 is a huge success.

The Bowl game is a wildcard, but we need to be at least 8-3 going into the Bowl game.

Those are pretty reasonable expectations. How dare you post that here.

Finally, someone with reason and logic instead of the typical homer BS.
