Expectations for this season?

Just go ahead and dislike that post bruh lol, u got me. Im questioning life right now
Seriously, though I’m looking for eight wins. Anything more than that I think will be a bonus, anything less than that will be a disappointment, at the same time, like you, I am 100% behind the current coaching regime’s focus on stacking chips.

Of course, we have no idea if it’s going happen the way we want it to or not, but the approach is correct. Name me one team that has won a championship in the last 15 years that didn’t have chips stacked.

It’s the only way to get there, and right now we’re playing with a half rack of chips.

Kind of playing devil's advocate here but roughly 65% of the current roster are Mario's guys. Between the influx of talent that has occurred mostly since January, and the turnover on the staff including new coordinators, I really don't see why a big season (10+ wins) couldn't happen. A lot would need to go right but if the players buy-in to the new staff and some of the old guard plays to their potential (Van Dyke, Restrepo, Nelson, Harvey, James Williams) then we could be scratching our heads in November wondering where all this talent came from.

Yup

No matter what happens this season we know its being built the right way. We haven't had an influx of talented youth like this in ages. The OL and DL by year 4 will be all NFL monsters. Thats how u win

Tyler Van Dyke’s rough season

FAULT

A new offensive coordinator in Josh Gattis and a bad scheme for Van Dyke’s strengths led to a rough season with 10 TDs and five interceptions and a season that brought him from a potential day-two NFL Draft pick to an afterthought nationally. And I blame the coaches and the scheme. The question is — can new OC Shannon Dawson change things and will he be allowed to under Mario Cristobal, who has a penchant for run-heavy and non-imaginative offense.

Lol, Mike Farrell said so, so it must be true. He has about as much prestige and knowledge as my left nut.

But that’s cool, keep propagating that tired and inaccurate trope.

Pretty much the perception across college football with both recruits and analysts. And Cristobal backed up the reputation by hiring bro-style Gattis, even though most UM fans knew he was a horrible choice. But hey, keep telling the world it's a tired and inaccurate trope, I'm sure that will convince everyone.

Look, I don't have any issue with the misfire on Steele. Yeah he also turned out to be a dud coordinator, but I get the theory of hiring him. It was doing a lot of the same stuff Diaz was doing, only with the idea that it would be done better. Gattis, on the other hand, was a deliberate choice to throw out the only part of UM football that was working fairly well. It's not a conspiracy or inaccurate trope to say that Cristobal felt pro-style would be more successful than a spread. Has he changed his philosophy now after seeing the total failure? Maybe, but that doesn't mean it washes away previous history.

I think that's probably right. Can you imagine the reaction on this site if realistic predictions for Diaz in year 1 would be a 5 win season, and year 2 would be a 6 win season? Yikes.

Considering we were just off of Richt, and having personally went to the Notre Dame game in 2017, I would've considered it an insult at the time.

A young guy with a highly aggressive defense, big in analytics taking the reigns? Who already knows the defense? Sure!

Little did I know that it would be a worse version of what happened to us when Randy Shannon became HC.

Honestly, after the Diaz debacle, and after 25 years of being a goddamned fan, finally, at long last, my expectations have finally been brutally beaten lower.

Sometimes its just healthier in life to be pleasantly surprised than constantly disappointed.
