Everybody loves Duke but the big elephant in the room is...

Pretty sure Duke's 40 time has ben avg - even as a Frosh. Kids always seems to play faster during game day then practice. This is not in our top 50 problems on this team

Woah, I am almost positive he was quoted late summer as saying that he lost weight from last year (intentionally) and got his old explosiveness back.

We haven't even seen him full sprint in the open field yet. The run last night he was waiting for blockers. Relax, bros.

to the guys saying the NFL wants him to add weight i dont think so, duke is not going to be a 20 carry guy in the league, **** those guys barely exist now, every team in the NFL is a by committee approach at running back. duke would be a guy you bring in to create mismatches and be a change of pace back/multipurpose and probably some special teams, i see him as a dexter mccluster type, and he is listed at 5'8" 170 look at his profile and stats http://www.nfl.com/player/dextermccluster/497190/profile

or jacquizz rodgers listed at 5'8" 196 http://www.nfl.com/player/jacquizzrodgers/2495471/profile

this proves there are teams that value the skills he could bring to the league without being over 200 lbs. if i were duke i would drop that weight fast at the combine cause teams arent looking for him to grind out 25 carry games nobody does that anymore, be what you are a small fast guy that has a tremendous burst that can also catch and contribute as a return man

Duke's issue is that he is a third down back who hasnt shown he can catch the ball out of the backfield (however that might be on Coley). Feel sorry for him (and every other RB) in that today's NFL might select a one or two RBs in the first few rounds but most get selected in the 3rd round or later. The $ diff between round one and round three is huge - especially since most RBs avg 3 years in teh NFL

I personally thought he got a little too big going into this season but that was just an eye test thing based on the kid's frame and lack of height. That said, could we be misjudging his apparent lack of a burst as result of poor o-line play cutting his run-of-the-mill runs down from 5 yd pick-ups to 2 yd gainers? Just saying that an underperforming run blocking unit will make any back look less special.

I agree with this. Run blocking has left a lot to be desired this year.

Wait - what's run blocking?

This thread is ridiculous. O-line is playing horrendous, teams are keying in on him because we have a true freshman QB. He may be winded every now and then because he's still returning to game shape after returning from an injury. Its not like dude gained fat, the man gained muscle. The additional muscle helps his acceleration and allows him to be more durable. This is not negative weight people. This is increase my NFL stock, my speed and durability type weight. #CaneFans #OMGooooooddneehh

How many times are you gonna post this same god**** post/thread? We get your opinion already, give it a ******* rest.

He is a more patient runner now. He is waiting for his blocks more....his freshman year he was feast and famine(more feast than famine though). It does annoy me that he gets caught from behind now...but i would take 6 30 yard runs over 5 2 yrd runs with a 80 yards td

Duke is fine. Can't understand some people here, honestly. Seems faster, stronger, has more vision than before and patience.

"Why didn't he house that big run?" Hey dum dumb, you see how many defenders he had to beat and the angle and space he had left?

Duke used to get taken down very easy before compared to this year and last. I'll say last year he seemed like he lost just a hair of speed, but whatever that was, looks like he got it back with being in better shape this year. Looks just as fast as he ever was and stronger now.

He didn't lose anything, he became more durable. He improved. Shayleon hit it right on.

I'll walk away from this thread. Just continue to watch what he does this year. The dude was on pace for almost 1700-1800 just rushing last year and he missed time early on. Idiots. He will be playing on Sundays.
