ESPN writer destroys Miami coaching decision

The most inexcusable and inexplicable loss of the last 20 years. And I mean of any football team at any level, not just Miami. It’s not possible to erase it, but I’d feel a lot better about it if we somehow went up and kicked the **** out of UNC on Saturday.

On Saturday if we pull off an Edgerrin James UCLA type game after the beatdown by Cuse, we might put this behind us for a week. ..then repeat it vs Clemson and FSU, we might have some respite

Was at the Dolphins game today as they destroyed the worthless Giants. So many were talking about Wario and his incompetence. Whether you were tailgating or standing in line for a beer, it was the buzz from so many.

Fox News right now.....”Massive coaching blunder leads to wild ending and heartbreaking loss” w/Mario photo.

Mario will be the poster boy for kneeling. Every single coaching clinic in America is going to highlight our lowlight. They will show UM blowing the game by running the ball, instead of kneeling. Every single flag and pee wee coach will know Mario's name.

He deserves it, too.

I hope Mario is haunted by this and loses years worth of sleep over it. This was an absolutely inexcusable and fireable offense.

I agree with this and I was a Mario apologist until late Saturday night. I would have defended a 20-17 uninspiring win. But he lost me with that debacle.

Good. Mario deserves to be mocked for this. He potentially cost this team an ACC championship and a spot in the college football playoff with one bonehead, inexplicable decision to not take a knee and end the game. This should haunt him for the rest of his life.

This is our new Flutie Hail Mary….we will hear about it and see it on every channel,on every sports show ,from every talking head for a while….every time someone does something stupid it will be characterized as pulling a Cristobal…

Hmmm, interestingly enough, I remember when teams laid an egg due to boneheadedness it was called "Clemsoning" as Dabo and Clemson perfected it. Clemson turned that into somewhat of a Dynasty and 2 Natty's and a few other times playing for Natty's. Perhaps Mario can turn it the same way......

He does deserve this criticism though in terms of narratology; I'd rather welcome a good "Hero's Journey" over a Tragedy.

I'll settle for "I hope Mario, in all future contests where he is faced with another brief moment of indecision about kneeling the game out, remembers this inflection point in his career and makes the appropriate and correct decision." Losing years' worth of sleep and termination is too much.
