Preposterous. If you look into the comments in this ESPN thread, you'll see them getting shown up as the clowns they are. Plenty of Longhon & Gator fans (no shìt) agreeing on the ridiculousness of their teams being ranked ahead of our '01 GOATS. This amounts to clickbait from a struggling network/site. Everyone knows. There's no question.

Ah, now I see. While there's no doubt the 2001 Canes are the best to have ever taken the field, I can see how other teams might have come up as better based on "analytics". Maybe Texas won by more points on average or the gayters gave up more of their points in garbage time or some sht. The numbers they use may very well say there are 2 better teams, but no human can claim that with a clear conscience.

If our defense could contain Vick, we would certainly contain Vince Young. Texas defense would be begging for mercy by the 3rd quarter.

Same thing with the Gators. Our defensive line would've eat Tim Tebow for breakfast. And Ed Reed would pick off those wounded duck passes.

**** our '08 team full of freshmen and Randy Shannon kept it close until the fourth quarter.

The article mentioned we were in the Big East, but failed to mention we beat 2 top 25 teams back to back for a combined score of 65-7, still an NCAA record. We handily beat rival Florida State as well.

The '08 Gators and 'Horns aren't even serious #1 candidates.

**** ESPN!

Any talk about the '01 team deserves my first post.

Since a lot of these teams are from the BCS era, the article maintains that air: fundamentally flawed and now defunct. There's a team with a loss at number 2. Go home, you're drunk,

Has anyone chronicled the heralds of the UT football squad or the UF team, and compared it to the talent that Miami possessed on the 2001 National Champion? Who else had 17 1st rounders or NFL pro-bowlers or soon to be named HOF inductees? I mean if that’s not a measuring stick for greatness what else could truly be? The amount of bags per football player? The biggest fund raising campaign of all time? ESPN is blatantly hating on the Canes for doing nothing but achieving greatness. They’ve done no harm to any of these staffers that spew their **** about the U. It’s remarkable how they don’t even try to hide it anymore, and will stop at nothing to erase Miami from the annuals of college football. Pathetic....

Sorry, I could not let that **** stand.

And by the way, the '00 Team would've beaten the '08 Gators.

They also got rid of the comment sections on their articles, which 99.99999% of the time was more interesting than the articles themselves.

Libs hate free speech unless it is their’s. ESPN is no exception, so no surprise they killed the commments. The only team that compares to 01 Canes is the 86 Canes and they distant second.

What's funny is that most of the posters in this thread didn't even read the article. The ranking is based on analytics regarding dominance. The article itself even acknowledges that Miami is considered the consensus pick.
