ESPN says Shannon may become interim coach

Shannon has definitely grown with how he handles press conferences and media. He even opened up practices to the media

He probably wants to stick around on the next staff.
So he's playing nice with media.
Not sure it has anything to do with maturing.

LOL...Belichick is the absolute worst at PCs and He's coming off a SB. PCs are overrated.

LOL....don't you think Belicheck is in a different career trajectory than Shannon?
When you win as much as Belicheck does, he could master bate and dissect live kittens during his pressers
and evoke praise from everyone in attendance.
Not so much for other coaches.

Exactly, "when you win".

But when you don't, people look for bull$h!t to pick apart like diction & articulation.

All that matters to me is effective communication to His team to positively effect performance, everything else is trivial

Dumb. What was jj's record before he got to Miami? saban before he went to lsu? Just dumb.

No.

What's dumb is your response.

You're comparing young up-and-coming coaches in their first jobs to 66-year-old Butch Davis and his CAREER record of 84-45. Not a snapshot of a moment in his early career. His all-time record at 66 years old.

I'd love to compare rosters of team's that each coach inherited too.

Jimmy's Oklahoma State team, Saban's Michigan State team and Butch's Miami team.

That would be a laugh.

Meaningless. Davis has proven himself twice. He put together one of the greatest rosters in NCAA history and he built a great team at unc before it was decimated by suspension. Been then he almost beat a talented lsu squad with his back UPS.

These points are irrefutable which makes your point meaningless. If you even have one. **** you Prolly thought golden was up and coming

I'd imagine you're a lot of fun on St. Patrick's Day, but I suspect you're a real hoot on Martin Luther King Day. Personal judgement on outward appearance. What a stupid method of judging people.

Huh?

Butch is old and doesn't look healthy. He's also had some recent health issues.

That's a factor in hiring the face of a major program.

Butch barely got another job at all let alone the Florida job.

Your perspective is comical.
Botch had cancer. No decent college gave him a job after Browns firing. He was never considered a great coach and has character issues. Based on this he was persona non grata to the real colleges. Only lowly fiu would hire him. About 5 years ago they also hired Isiah Thomas as bb coach. Seems they hire down and out former "names" because they are desperate for recognition and publicity. Botch fanboys will never forgive the U for never hiring him back. Most of them wanted Rich to fail. Now frustrated because they realize Richt has turned this program around and the sky is the limit.

Children get cancer - and recover. Young adults get cancer and recover.

You either get past it - or you don't.

It's not Botch fanboys that can't get over UM not hiring him back - it's the butthurt that he left as UM was jacking him around over his contract - and they've never forgiven him for leaving.

I don't want Richt to fail. Never want that.

We're not frustrated that he's turned the program around - but if the sky was the limit with Richt - let's just say Butch has done far more with far less - than Richt has done with a whole lot more.

I hope Richt wins out. Year after year after year.

But that hasn't happened yet.
Butch didn't though. He left

Richt is ten fold the better coach and it's shown with all of Butch's failures after Miami

If rich is ten fold the cfoach why hasn't he been perused by any NFL teams? He's not ten fold the coach and I'd take Davis over richt. David's' eye for talent is virtually unmatched and he definitely knows how to surround himself with talent both players and coaches. had he stayed at Miami they would have been another dynasty

Doppel is just has a short fuse on his tampon.

The name of his affliction is Occhiolism.

Comical.

Butch went 28-23 at North Carolina. Never finished with a winning ACC record. Never finished higher than tied for 3rd in the Coastal.

But he proved himself there.

Talk about a crock.

Mack Brown proved himself at North Carolina. So has Larry Fedora.

Butch has never won anything in his life as head coach.

He built a "great team" at UNC that never finished better than 8-5 and 4-4 in the ACC.

Al Golden is a loser and a bum for going 9-4 and 5-3.

Butch Davis "proved" himself going 8-5 and 4-4 with a "great" team at UNC.

The nature of fanboy love is amazing.

Sorry, sweetheart, but Butch having a "great" team at UNC is definitely refutable.

And Butch proving himself at two places is too.

In fact nothing you said was even factual let alone irrefutable.

He's "ten fold" better because of facts.

Richt: 161-55 (.745%), 2 outright conference titles (SEC)
Davis: 84-45 (.651%), 1 outright conference title (Big East)

The fact that you would take a 66-year-old guy with a vastly inferior record says all we need to know about your fanboy obsession.

Butch Davis is the guy who hired Pete Garcia as a field coach in his first year. Good thing he rectified that after one year. Unfortunately he let Bill Miller coordinate the defense for 4 years.

What evidence do you have regarding his ability to put together great staffs?

Todd Bowles-currently the Jets HC

Randy Shannon-currently the Gators HC

Mario Cristobal

Rob Chudzinski- former NFL HC

Bruce Arians-currently the Arizona Cards HC

...all assistant coaches under Butch

And most of them have been all fired, so he hired dudes who accomplished nothing as HC save maybe Pagano whos about to be **** canned

This is one of the easiest things I've ever had to address.

The answer is coattails.

If a head coach gets an NFL job he usually takes guys with him. Those guys become higher profile, make contacts in the league and therefore have better career prospects.

Same thing happened to Jimmy Johnson's staff. Same thing happened to Dennis Erickson's staff.

You mentioned 7 guys. Two of them never coached at Miami (Bowles and Arians). One of them was a GA on the previous staff that Butch just retained (Chudzinski) and another was on the previous staff and was just retained (Randy Shannon). Mario Cristobal was also just a GA under Butch. Chuck Pagano was a GA under Jimmy Johnson when Butch was an assistant.

Just like in life, coaching is a lot about who you know.

Butch only made one really good coaching hire where he went out and got somebody that wasn't a branch in his tree: Greg Schiano.

Otherwise he has shown no talent whatsoever in evaluating assistant coaches.

All of them were significant failures in those positions you mentioned.

Shannon was a terrible communicator. His interviews made you wince. From what I’ve seen from this week’s videos, he seems more relaxed and sure of himself.

Looks like the same ole' Shannon to me.

All that matters is can He communicate to His team, public speaking is overrated.

Golden gave great interviews, knocked His first PC out the park, how'd that work out?
