It was a genius idea. If it was Manny Diaz who came up with it, just for that alone he needs to have a special place in Miami football history.

According to the Sun-Sentinel, two weeks before the season started, Miami cornerbacks coach Mike Rumph asked Anthony John Machado, a local Miami jeweler, if he would make a rope chain players could wear after forcing a turnover. Luckily for Rumph, Miami legend Vince Wilfork was in AJ's store during the call, and had a better idea.

The initial thought was a rope chain that players would get to wear after forcing a turnover. “Naw, man,” chimed in Wilfork, recently retired after a 13-year NFL career. “We got to do the Cuban link, AJ!” The consensus among the three was a collective “**** yeah!” “In Miami, what are we famous for? We’re famous for the Cuban chains,” Machado says. “But we need to add a little something to it. “So we did a big U charm — orange stones, green stones in there to flash it out.”

If they choose to refresh the chain it should be a thick rope (2 live crew style) with the []__[] on a big medallion (so it sits right).

E$ECPN editorial craps on Miami every chance the get for the most part. However, the money people there know what keeps the subscribers and eyeballs coming back motivated for CFB...It sure ain't Rocky Top vs. The Hogs or UK vs. Ole Miss or Vandy vs. South Carolina!

That first pic was stuck in my locker for all of HS.

No lie, school admins would go in my locker and take it out and next morning it'd be right back up!
 
Comments on that video are a split between Wisconsin fans doing victory laps and a bunch of salty losers.

If Malik Young is going to have medical issues stemming from his career ending injury, the TO chain should be auctioned off to go in a fund for him. He WAS the first to Don it. (not sure if this is the case or not.)
