ESPN New ACC Predictions

Based on his post practice interview today,I think they wanted him to read and react or watch the perimeter during this game.If he's allowed to cut loose, he will have 12 sacks this year in the Coastal.
Wasn't specifically talking about that game but in general. No big deal if he is, just an observation.

9-3? There is no way that we should not finish at least 10-2. If we get pass UNC, in which we have two weeks to prepare for, we have a month before we play our next ACC game on 10/05 and almost 2 months before we play a road ACC game on 10/26. We start the ACC stretch with 3 straight home games! It's been said many times, but this schedule is set up for us to have a great season.

The tell, will be how we come out against UNC. Normally, there is huge improvement in performance between games 1 and 2. If we handle UNC like we should, 10-2 should not just be doable, it should be at the very minimum, expected.

You know it. I still think we slip up once, somewhere along the way, but have always thought this is a 10-2 division champion.

I will be very disappointed and have to re-evaluate if we do not pound the will to live out of UNC, especially given how they have disrespected us recently.

I like Shaq, but I haven't seen enough in his three years to think he's ACC player of the year quality. Great leader, and I'm proud to have him on my team, but POY? I just can't see it.

You and anyone that agrees didn’t see him play the last two years obviously

Let’s not forget the 36 tfls. That’s more tfls and sacks Rashan Gary had in 3 years total and he played linebacker
That’s less than one per game. Look I love Shaq and his attitude. He doesn’t cost us games but he isn’t this all world guy that some fans and media types make him out to be. We play an attacking style of defense so he is going to have a good amount of sacks and tackles for loss. When I think of POY guys I think of guys that change games and dominate and Shaq doesn’t move the needle in that regard

Joe Jackson had 36 tfls in 3 years..

9-3 would be disappointing but its understandable. If the OL plays anywhere near close to how they did on Saturday, a team like UVA could be an L. The problem is then finding the next loss. VT is horrible, UNC sucks, Pitt could be trouble on the road, don't really see GT doing anything this year, and Duke just lost a 1st round QB. FSU would be the only game that would make sense but I would never predict a loss to a Willie-led team.

Games we're likeliest to lose in descending order

@FSU
UVA
@PITT
VT
@DUKE
@UNC
GT
LOU
FIU
CMU
BCU

We play really good at home and have 5 straight in the middle of the season.We will know the moxie of this down the stretch since that is when we usually quit. Pitt game scares me because it is a week before FSU and back on the road where they upset is a couple of years ago.

I just can't see a scenario in which we lose 3 more games, at least not with this years schedule.

That's fair. To totally look like a hypocrit, it's still a possibility we run the table because of the schedule, I should have said we look closer to 9-3 ball club as we stand today.

It obviously ultimately comes down to how fast our young guys on O mature on offense. Sky is the limit depending on that. We need to wade through the growing pains. Hopefully we are firing on all cylinders by 10/26 when I see them at Pitt.

I didn't say he wasn't good, I am saying he has never looked like the **** player of the year. Has he even been discussed for the award the last three years? No. Did he show you anything Saturday night that made you think, "Man, there's the ACC Defensive Player of the Year!!" No. So, again, he's a really good player, but ACC player of the year needs to be dominant. When I think of players of the year, I think Dan Morgan, Ray Lewis, Warren Sapp. When I think of team captain, I think Shaq. He's good, respected, and has a career in the NFL waiting for him. He's just not POY material, unless he just explodes the rest of the year. I sure as heck hope he does.
