ESPN has Canes at #8 for 2026

Mensah
2 portal receivers already gotten
OL won't be an issue
Damon Wilson hopefully, everyone else keeps progressing
Blay? Eh
I guess
Big loss
Kicker already replaced

TrumpyCane thinks we should have a good/great team next year

Need to replace 0/8/31 and hope 1 returns on D
We can't replace 3/4 so we need an army to rotate and our DTs to be elite(likely)

The biggest difference should be on O. If Mensah can throw for 4000/34/6 at Duke, we should move up in the stats for offense. We do have massive holes on the OL with limited experience so it would be nice to land Seaton or another proven starter.

I recalled that they ranked us lower than no. 15 or somewhere last year.

Indiana
Texas
Notre Dame
UGA
Oregon
Ohio State
Texas Tech
Miami

If you asked someone to set the playoff field for 2026, I think most people would include those 8. So if Miami is viewed as part of that group, I think its reasonable.

I think there is a gap before 9-11 (Ole Miss, aTm, and BYU) and Miami should be viewed as better than those 3.
This just in, ND coach Freeman has stated ND will forfeit the coming football season because they were not placed first in the ESPN preseason poll

we can’t replace Bain and Mesidors game wrecking ability but there is NO reason why Miami can’t field a defense like Indianas. They had no dynamic pass rushers. They just play disciplined football- using technique to make up for lack of size, and almost never miss tackles. it was good enough to run the table and win a natty. Miami has better athletes across the board. Coach them up and it can be better than Indianas championship defense.

Who cares, we were what #18 before this season? And almost won the whole **** thing

Proved to be the clear second best team in the nation

Another year, same nonsense from ESPN

Ohio St #1, Sayin is a Heisman leader blah blah blah
Texas time to shine, the year of Arch

Same garbage about Oregon and they'll hype Notre Dame becuase they feel slighted

Texas Tech, BYU, Big 12, please, we all know the deal

Oklahoma again overrated

As always, Miami needs to fight its way to the playoff

I think some guys here - younger guys - are unaware of the fear of UM football getting back on track.

We used to be absolutely hated. We thrived and fed off that hatred. It wasn't bitter - it was sweeter than honey. We embraced the suck.

Look at who we beat this year! Very popular teams. What does that make UM? A small, private school? The NERVE!

So - my suggestion: Get used to it. Hold it close. Embrace it.

Isn't Indiana's whole team 35 years old? How are they #1 next year without elite recruiting? Just a knee jerk list from the jump.

On D, Keointe is the big loss. I’m a HUGE Jakobe fan but I think BC guy can give us something similar to what Jakobe did. What keointe brought to the team this year was incredible.

Obviously Bain/Mesidor were elite for us and they’re all time great Canes. But add Damon Wilson + Lightfood a year older, Hayden Lowe and you have three 5 star DEs right there. I’d argue we’ll be better as a pass rushing unit. The question is will the be similar against the run which Bain was elite at.
