Idgaf about Sam Howell, yes he had a good TF season, but UNC being looked at as some new upcoming juggernaut is bogus IMO. I got UNC losing to UCF, Auburn, Duke, Miami & NC St in an upset. Their Defense is still trash AF.

I don't believe Fuente will have them playing well either, they don't have the Bud Foster Defenses of old, their new DC Justin Hamilton has never called plays before in P5 football & while they do have Tracy Claeys as their LB's coach, they don't have the DB's or the pass rush that Va Tech used to have that made them a legit Defense for all those years.

Both teams in my opinion are at best 8 win teams. Am I biased Canes fan, of course, but on paper I sincerely don't see either team as more talented or more capable than us.

Just as its been every year since we joined the ACC, the difference will be Coaching & QB play, for the first time in decades we finally have a legit OC & QB combo, to go with arguably one of the top 2 DL's in the conference.

How overrated were the 2019 Miami Hurricanes? Your post got me thinking about just how overrated we were by Vegas/Bookies.

Odds wise I would be willing to bet no other team was further off the season point spread total than us.

Yeah pretty much. Don't take it personal. I'm just tired of the bull****. Last year was a debacle. Trying to make it look worse than it did is unnecessary. We just as well could have won 10 games, but we didn't. New offensive staff in place. No sense in revisiting what was a 2nd disappointing season in a row.

We had 8 games decided by one possession.

Two games which we would definitely have won if we just make a chip shot kick.

Three games we won by three scores or more.

We lost 5 of the 8 one possession games.

You flip that around and we make two kicks and we're a 10 win team in 2019.

That's not saying that we're necessarily a good team.

The argument could be made that going 6-7 was the best case scenario because it lead to Manny firing the entire offensive staff and going all in with a spread offense...which may not have happened otherwise.

Like I said, 2019 is over and done with.

I've moved on.
 
Research how ESPN FPI works. Pre-season FPI is based solely on last year's information. It takes into account returning starters but doesn't account for a transfer assumed starter like D'Eriq King. So according to FPI metrics, Miami is a 6 win team with no returning starter at running back or quarterback.

We beat UVA with 260 total yards and Pitt kicked our *** all over the field and we somehow won with 200 total yards (unheard of). We were lucky to win both those and the CMU game.

Bottom Line - YOU ARE WHAT YOUR RECORDS SAYS YOU ARE

We were 6-7 with a scrub *** schedule, 10 wins was a pipe dream with the teams we fielded

/on to 2020, I do agree with that
 
The thing about VT is everyone wrote them off before last year and they managed an 8-4 regular season. They flashed some offense once Hooker took over.

#1 - We held UVA and Pitt below their season averages for yards and points by more than 17%

Yes, our offense was dog****, so we won and lost some defensive struggles.

If a defensive struggle is your idea of one team kicking the other team's *** all over the field, then the opposing teams in those two games got their asses kicked as well.

#2 - *OSU "won" their first MNC in 65 years on Friday Jan 3, 2003 while gaining a grand total of 267 yards of total offense.

No one is arguing that we were anything but average...but we had the opportunity to win 10 games easily. We just couldn't get it done.
