ESPN Coaching Hot Seat Report 10/12

I think it's hilarious we have insider(s) literally hitting 99% of the time with info that contradicts major news outlets (if they even get reported on at all) and you guys just eat it up.

The only thing that bothered me about that article was that it was clearly put out or influenced by some people at Miami trying to lower expectations. Don't buy the bull****.

There is no one on this board who has ever hit even close to 99% of the time. Even the best “so-called” insiders are wrong all the time.

Anyone else tired of this Groundhog’s Day BS? If our next coach is not a home-run hire, I think I will be resigned to getting an alert on my phone about final scores. No interest in watching my school continue the path of mediocrity.
I love a good coaching search and finding out who the staff hires are. All of the rumors and breakdowns of expectations of the staff makeup keep me coming to the board.

Regardless of the hire I will probably buy in for at least a few weeks until the losing starts and then get in that wash, rinse, repeat phase again. I'd like to have a homerun hire, I won't bail on the team as quick if I have faith it'll get turned around. Give them the benefit of the doubt. I'm so far past the 'fan' stage where you support them and cheer for them regardless. I can't pull for anyone else but I'm not watching something that ruins my week/weekend before it starts. I don't know how some people do it.

But I was more excited about this season before a game was played than I have been in at least a decade maybe 15 years.. and we're 5 games in and I have already given away tickets, only watched 2 games, and ready for something to change.

This sums it up nicely. Seeing the potential turn to sht just saps all the joy out of watching. The confidence that they have the ability to come back and win is all gone and it's almost a surprise when they do.

Dead on.

This season broke me. I may be a mope going forward. We had the entire team returning , a couple good recruiting classes , all coming off a 8-3 season. I even posted in the off season if manny can’t get to 9-10 wins it’ll never happen for him.

1. If you guys haven’t figured out by now, besides Kirk Herbstreit and the Bear, most info from ESPN is weak sauce 2nd hand and should be assumed inaccurate more times than not

2. Appreciate the info you share Alex Jones. This Canes and Dolphins season has broken my spirit

3. Anything short of Manny and Blake being fired, and I will have a really hard time believing in this program. The amount of time and money invested is irrational. I wish I could bring myself to somehow divorce this team but I can’t

This is an incredibly fair and reasonable position for any fan of the program.
There was a lot of hype coming into this season and the team fell flat on its face in epic fashion.

People always say Richt saved the school $26 million by retiring, but Richt wasn't about to be fired, so it isn't as if the school was about to pay his buyout to fire him and he just told them to keep their money.

No one has ever said that. People respect him for walking away rather than milking it for another year or two

Had realistic ACCCG hopes and 10-2 regular season before the season started.

And then after seeing how bad Clemson was the first two weeks had realistic playoff hopes.

We had everything coming back and going for us..hadn't had this much optimism for a season for a decade+.

Then reality hit. I feel terrible for my 3 boys. I sucked them into this fandom and they got addicted in 2017 when they saw what the Canes can be. And then just disappointment after disappointment.

I hear you on that one. My oldest boy only really loves music so he spared himself lol. But my younger two are hooked and always sad about it. Their school is like 60/40 Canes v. Gators but the Gators are so vocal cause even though they haven’t been great, they have been a **** of a lot better than us.

They don’t get butthurt. You’re the guy discrediting somebody that’s reputation. is as clean as anyone affiliated with the canes. You must be new here because this isn’t something new. What’s funny is you tell them not to be butthurt when I’m wrong but you come off as the type that will rub it in when said person is finally wrong. Even though they have three years of being right at a high rate.
No, he got butthurt that I dared to question if the board insiders weren’t perfect. He said that you’re right 99% of the time. That’s an absolute joke. You even admitted 80% or so, which is incredible. But some of these guys act like the word is gospel and wrap all their hopes up in it.

Even the people making the decisions are wrong at times because the information they had shifts and changes in fluid situations.

I’m far from new. I remember you on Canesport from years ago. I posted under a different name that had to be retired lol. I know you’re right, but I’ve also seen you be wrong plenty too over the years. Never rubbed any of it in. Just saying that these guys act like you’re a golden god when you’re a guy who has some info.

I’m a believe it when I see it kind of guy, especially given the crap state of things here in Miami lately. I hope your info is right about changes coming (including the AD) but I don’t put anything past this administration in terms of incompetence.

Nobody knows what I know. I won’t tell what I know. So awesome.

An insider article by Adam Rittenberg talked about Miami, LSU, USC, and VA Tech and Texas Tech.

Highlights

We might be in for a ****** year and a half:

- “Coaches who have faced the Hurricanes have described them as a bunch of talented parts without much cohesion or development.” 🤬
- “How realistic is a coaching change at Miami? It’s not as likely as some Miami fans might hope. The noise around Miami doesn’t always match up with the financial reality or the desire to go through a coaching transition.”
- “I think they’d like to move on if they can, an industry source said, but money is always a concern there.”
- Another source said “I don’t think they care enough to pay what it’s going to cost.”
- said we might go after guys like Billy Napier or Jamey Chadwell. No mention of Stoops or anyone else other than a few coordinators (but did say we will prob avoid a first time head coach).

Mario ain’t coming here:

- He said that his buyout is $9 million if he is hired before Jan 14, 2022. It goes down to $6.5 million after that but our admin isn’t gonna pony up for buying out Manuela, buying out Mario, and then paying Mario a minimum of $5 million plus.
- Said that the buyout would prohibit us from making a serious run and that even if he took a hometown discount the overall cost would be too high.
- he said LSU will go after him if he’s their #1 target and money will be no object. They swim in the deep end, we swim in the kiddie pool
- also mentioned Stoops for them (not for us) but said they likely won’t view him as a home run hire
- other names included Franklin, Fischer cause of LSU ties, Lane Kiffin, and even possibly Lincoln Riley

Concluding statement on Miami: “Ultimately, a lack of motivation to make a move, financial considerations, and a top candidate (Mario) who is likely not attainable mean Diaz will be fine for 2022. But he needs to show progress in the second half, beginning this week against UNC.”
think anyone who has watched CMD in action would come to same conclusion , not sure that Rittenberg is dialed into Miami but troubling comments of lack of motivation to make a change and financial concerns are not good news for all Canes fans
anf\d future of program period as it seems that current Admin + AD dept accept mediocrity
