An insider article by Adam Rittenberg talked about Miami, LSU, USC, and VA Tech and Texas Tech.

Highlights

We might be in for a ****** year and a half:

- “Coaches who have faced the Hurricanes have described them as a bunch of talented parts without much cohesion or development.” 🤬
- “How realistic is a coaching change at Miami? It’s not as likely as some Miami fans might hope. The noise around Miami doesn’t always match up with the financial reality or the desire to go through a coaching transition.”
- “I think they’d like to move on if they can, an industry source said, but money is always a concern there.”
- Another source said “I don’t think they care enough to pay what it’s going to cost.”
- said we might go after guys like Billy Napier or Jamey Chadwell. No mention of Stoops or anyone else other than a few coordinators (but did say we will prob avoid a first time head coach).

Mario ain’t coming here:

- He said that his buyout is $9 million if he is hired before Jan 14, 2022. It goes down to $6.5 million after that but our admin isn’t gonna pony up for buying out Manuela, buying out Mario, and then paying Mario a minimum of $5 million plus.
- Said that the buyout would prohibit us from making a serious run and that even if he took a hometown discount the overall cost would be too high.
- he said LSU will go after him if he’s their #1 target and money will be no object. They swim in the deep end, we swim in the kiddie pool
- also mentioned Stoops for them (not for us) but said they likely won’t view him as a home run hire
- other names included Franklin, Fischer cause of LSU ties, Lane Kiffin, and even possibly Lincoln Riley

Concluding statement on Miami: “Ultimately, a lack of motivation to make a move, financial considerations, and a top candidate (Mario) who is likely not attainable mean Diaz will be fine for 2022. But he needs to show progress in the second half, beginning this week against UNC.”

All the more reason the school needs to just pony up and hire Mario..

All of the know nothings can say that money is a problem and we aren't paying because it's how they've operated in recent history. Pony up the cash and prove that they can and will do it.

Legitimately now or never time to spend money. With the CFP expansion and the SEC taking anyone and everyone worth a ****.. you think we're irrelevant now.. wait 3-4-5 years with a new unproven coach struggling again and see.

Everyone should take national outlets reporting on Miami with a grain of salt. Miami is so unbothered to be a real football program that no one has sources inside the program. Who tf out there that takes themselves seriously would bother connecting with Jen Strawley and co.?

It is my understanding that we gave Temple 4 million? To get Manny back?

Is this just a made up number?
It was closer to $5.5 million because they off-set income tax on it too. And they ponied that up in less than 24 hours meaning it was readily available. There wasn't fundraising, no time for board meetings, no time to rally the troops to pay it and get approval. Blake had free reign to nearly $6 million for an unproven coach. But there's no money?

We will never be willing to spend what it takes to be successful I’m todays game. I believe we won’t hire even Mario till Jan and that points out why

It is not about there being NO money. They have plenty of money.

It is about them not wanting to spend the money.

This is why I have serious doubts about them pulling the trigger early and any amount of wins giving them excuses to prolong change. They are praying every night that he could just win just a few more games.

This is depressing.

Looks like OP gets his stuff from people who don't know squat like this message board. What does he know about what UM is willing to pay? Just more noise.

ESPN only credible for "woke" subjects. F them.

Just passing on what they posted. I don’t take it as gospel, but since I get the damned Disney bundle for my kids, I read the article and figured I would share for those who don’t have Insider.

Let me ask all of you- does a single word of what he said sound inconsistent with our administration for the past 15+ years and past 4 football coaching hires? Richt fell into our laps but the other 3 were awful and all done on the cheap.

Everyone saying we paid money to temple so we can do it again is omitting important info:

1) There was no buyout on our end, Richt retired
2) They paid Manny $2-3 million less than a new coach will cost and the new coach isn’t going sign some buyout friendly deal.
3) Manny retained the entire defensive staff. A new coach will likely want all his own guys.

There’s a big difference between a one time payment that netted out to about $3-$4 million when compared to Richt’s salary and all the points listed below.

Exactly. I'm beyond tired of the no money excuse. We have money. Bama level money? **** no. But we have the money to hire a competent, successful HC. We just have a cuck of an AD who chooses to spend it on the mayor's son and the BOT member's son because he's a beta puppet little *****.

Sadly, I agree. I think a lot of this information is more accurate than we want to believe.

Dont let espn do this to you man...shake it off.
It’s not ESPN. It’s the fact that our administration has behaved 100% consistently with every word. They have shown little or no appetite to fix it and I won’t believe a thing until they prove everyone in the media, and those of us fans who doubt them, wrong.
