Espn: Bold Predictions Butch vs. Al

It'd be interesting to think about which players that are either committed elsewhere right now or not interested in us may end up committing.....

There would be more than a couple.

Should this happen it will be a 180 degree turnaround in this program overnight.

I could see Butch being hired and first thing he does is take a sledge hammer to golden's pillars. You would have so much excitement around the program will draw the likes of espn down there for all the coverage, recruits would be lining up at the door begging for a scholarship.

Mark is fairly respected reporter with good sources. He seems to think the UNC thing is not a problem. Donna is gone. Butch is a safest pick school can make. If he fails they can keep him as long as they like because we(most of us) has insisted on his hire. He will come cheap. The pedigree of his recruits brings instance relevance to the program. The return of THE U will be major topic on all sports shows immediately. You have got to believe that Butch can take any living room from even Saban or Urban. I am going to just that Butch has more pro bowlers than Urban and Saban combined have 1st round picks(remember he recruited for JJ). He might have more HOFers than Urban has 1st round picks. Maybe his is too old and maybe he is not a good game day coach, but boy-howdie it will be exciting around here if he gets hired.

worst case scenario if we hire Butch is 4-5 years down the road we cant get over the 10/11 win hump to win a MNC and are pumping out first round talent every year. i think i can live with that

I like to think about how Al first learns he's been canned and replaced with Butch. Lately I think of it happening on a Raising Canes episode, where our point of view is behind a person walking into Al's office unannounced and simply states "Coach Davis wants to see you; bring your pillars binder." I'd also like someone to punch him in his chest as he tries to stammer a retort (a la The U Part 2 scene with Rumph) and say "you don't talk when Coach Davis is talking."

Sweet Jesus, if only THIS could be true!

I could see Butch staying 5-7 years winning 1-2 championships, then retiring but having a successor on staff in place. Then Butch could buy a house near to JJ down on the Keys (unless he already lives down there)....

I think he would take 2-2.5M with incentives to get to 3M for 5-7 years and come back with a vengeance.

I also think we need to test the open market. I think there are some younger fellas out there that could possible turn this thing around as well.

yo please let this happen so i can watch espn and watch miami rape n pillage the sec n cfb. this is the only way rt now

Maybe Jimmy Johnson, about 40 UM Pro Bowlers (In 2010 alone, UM had ELEVEN playing in the game), one or two particular BOT members, Art Kehoe with five rings on the fingertips of one hand, with Butch Davis present, could give President Frenk a personal, informative viewing of THE U, Part 2.

State their case, and give him a butt-splitting wedgie if he hesitates.

This is quite likely true. And perhaps that could work out better in the long run; however, Butch is very much a known product around here. And he's proven that he's a difference maker in many ways (not as a game day coach, though).

It's time to remove the risk from the equation in my opinion. We've failed miserably with 3 coaches in a row. No more speculation for me.

Get it done and win. Davis will do that. He'll still lose some games in ways that will upset us at times, but so will any coach. We know what we have with Davis and it's mostly good. Mostly...

I read just a couple days ago on ESPN that according to all his colleagues there that Butch has made it known behind the scenes he wants to come back to Miami. He stated so before it is his one big regret in his career was leaving the dynasty he built.

Man! Man! Man! Even a remote possibility that Butch is mentioned to come back gives me hope of one day ****ing off the college football world again. Got this redneck who lives around the corner and has a high jacked 4-W Drive truck with a Georgia plate. Would love for that hick to have to bow to my canes flag. FYI, haven't flown it in years. Won't till I know we are back with the right coach and staff.

He not so discretely hinted at this in several radio interviews last year.

He was just asked Monday morning on 560 what it was like watching us win the natty against Nebraska. He said first, misery over leaving behind a dynasty and second, joy for the program and all the kids I recruited and developed. Also, when asked about the "photos" he said you would never catch Brett or any of my guys doing that. The man wants redemption and he will deliver.
