Our passing game was horrid last season for sure. Before the 2018 season we have had 6 straight 3000 yard plus seasons in the passing game. We didn’t even have more than 2200 total yards passing which is awful. It was an anomaly period. People on the outside thinking that will transpire again regardless of the qb playing are sadly mistaken

Richt's antique racecar basically got its doors blown off last year, before crashing in the first turn at 30mph. I fully expect a sizable upgrade in production this year. If ever there was a chance to shock the college football world, this is it.

Can’t really argue with most of this but they could have mentioned several more disrupters on D.

I think they mentioned all the proven disruptors. The rest of the guys have not done anything of note. Maybe finley but the rest of the guys were excited about have yet to prove it on the field.

Richt was the coach in 2016 and Fredo was his QB coach. The team completed 61.7% of its passes (29th nationally), at 8.4 YPA (19th nationally), with a rating of 149.64 (24th nationally).

In 2018, it was the worst passing offense in the history of humankind. Same coaches, essentially the same athletes around the passer.

The difference was we had 2 kids playing the Quarterback position who didn't deserve to be within 500 yards of a college football field in 2018, and we had Brad Kaaya in 2016.

Richt's offense sucked, clearly. And Fredo didn't remotely deserve the job he had, obviously. The QBs were poorly coached, poorly prepared, and in Kosi's case, incredibly immature. But this year's team *should* be able to trot out at least a competent QB. Something we did not have last year. The numbers will be MUCH better this year.

If we can just put together a respectable passing game we should win minimum 8 games. Any team with a pulse on D had our number because we were 1 dimensional then add in Thomas being dismissed. We had no threat of a passing game or WR to key.

Why are so many analysts so high on VT? Didnt they lose like half their team to transfers?

Well they are acknowledging the obvious concerns that we have to begin with as die-hards.

Not really. They did lose a lot of transfers, you're right. But they return I think 9 starters on defense, and something like 18 or so in the 2-deep.

I think the sentiment is Bud Foster didn't forget how to coach, just that defense last year was absolutely gutted by injuries and had to play a ton of inexperienced kids. Now, those kids are no longer inexperienced.

Also, they have literally the easiest schedule in the P5. Their cross-over games are BC and Wake, and their OOC schedule is Old Dominion, Furman, Rhode Island, and Notre Dame.
