Enough CJ Bailey threads, here’s one for Malachi Toney

I still think he needs even more touches. We go stretches without getting him the ball. Him and Pringle (with Marion coming along) is really stressful for any defense.
I was just about to post the opposite - I think they force feed the ball to him too much.

There's a whole load of plays where he goes in motion etc and you know the ball is going to him. Defences have keyed in on him now.

That Marion screen was actually a lovely wrinkle - they all thought Toney was getting the ball and instead he was blocking. Resulted in a first down.

He has that elite burst that's similar to Pringle. Looks way faster than what they might be timed as. I would love to see him more in the wildcat running the ball tho. Passing it can be the actual trick plays.

Mali is unique in my opinion. I know we always like to do the comparison thing with past greats, but his skillset is really unique.

If I had to chose a comparison, with his speed, burst, shiftiness, and versatility, I would say he's...........

............ a slightly bigger, slightly less shifty 2025 version of Roscoe Parrish.

First player in awhile that had the hype coming in and it was absolutely still under hyped

Been awhile since maybe duke that I felt we had a player who could make a play on any touch in running, receiving, or special teams in a game

I think Duke is probably our least celebrated superstar that played here. You rarely ever hear people add him into the great RB talk.

You always get the same names, OJ Anderson, Bratton, Highsmith, Jackson, Edge, Portis, McGahee, Gore

That man was an absolute BEAST while he was here and is our all-time leading rusher.

The real deal. Great feel for the game, Pringle feels like a rb version
I said it in the game thread and have believed this ever since I started understanding football as a kid - a good back that you can also use in the passing game is a cheat code. It's a feature all the best Miami teams have always had.

I have to say, since I’ve been watching and loving these Hurricanes from the mid 80s, Malachi is probably the most impressive all around player I’ve seen as a true frosh. Duke was great and others in the mid 90s that had to step up cause probation, but man-this kid’s an animal.

Those reverses to Toney should be more open now that we’ve put on film he can throw it well.
